Occasionally, the stack of stories that I print from the Internet gets as big and unruly as Ted Kennedy with a bout of the DT’s. Today as I went through the heap, a small but telling story caught my eye again. It was titled, “Study Finds One-Third in D.C. Illiterate.” Is this the same Washington D.C. that’s located within the United States of America? For a moment I thought “D.C.” might have stood for “Distant Countries”. How could this be possible? If you really want to know the answers to this question, you should look no further than to the sclerotic public schools, the liberals and our immigrants, both legal and illegal, as the sources of this embarrassing statistic. It is a crime of epic proportions.
Within the public school system, the NEA holds sway. The teachers union has a lot in common with their partners in crime within the Democratic Party. Both stand arm in arm against accountability and vouchers, or “school choice.” “Choice” is only of any importance to the liberal rubber apron crowd when it involves ice tongs to the skull of a fetus, but I digress..
Vouchers would unquestionably benefit the lowest class, affording them the opportunity to escape the bottom via a quality education. Requests relative to accountability, in other words, actually demanding positive results from an educational system that absorbs multiple billions of dollars nationwide, usually illicits a rational response similar to Howard Dean’s after the 2004 Iowa caucus.
The Democrats always promise “big money” (“It’s for the kids..”) in return for “support” both forcibly extracted from teachers salaries and at the ballot box. The Democrats always deliver the “big money” which is extorted from the taxpayers utilizing guilt and the flawed theory that throwing money at problems always solves them.
The Democrats, in collusion with the NEA, “guarantees” an unending cesspool of illiterates funneled through the useless public schools, thereby “guaranteeing” the perpetuation of the underclass. A permanent underclass needs “benefits” guaranteed by the Democrats. In return, the Democrats would “appreciate your vote..”
The most expeditious route to a permanent underclass goes straight through the intellectually bankrupt public school system. Remember: the permanent underclass MUST be “unemployable.” Those employed begin the involuntary process known as “paying taxes.” Those effected start taking a long look at their check on Friday afternoon and that is usually when the “Conservative Epiphany” takes place and they suddenly see the logic of voting against the “taxers.” Any guesses as to whom the “taxers” are?
Those employed need less and less from the liberal’s intrusive brand of government. This “progressive regressive-ism” is fueled by the Democrats inherent addiction: excessive taxation. All of this has to come from the “employeds” paycheck every Friday or from their bank account on April 15th. It’s the circle of life, Simba. Those “employed” also begin to break the depressing psychological dependency of the liberal welfare state.
The story says 21% of the nation and 36% of Washington D.C.’s inhabitants are “functionally illiterate.” The answer of course, is a four million-dollar ($4,000,000.00) “adult literacy initiative”. That’s how the politicians do it. Their only involvement with the “problem” is to pose for the photo–op with the big cardboard check while their hands are in my pocket to cover all of their “promises.” That way, come election time, they can sanctimoniously say: “I addressed the problem.” I would hope that by now as a nation, we understand that when a politician says he or she is “addressing” a problem, he or she has neither the ability nor the desire to “eliminate” the problem. They actually seek to “perpetuate” the problem.
Another weed within the illiterate bush that makes up this 21% is the immigrant, both legal and illegal. Who says that learning English is “hateful” and “discriminatory”? The Democrats. Who fights against the immigrant’s assimilation to Western civilized society? The Democrats. Assimilation is the fertile soil from which success is harvested in America. Part of the assimilation process is learning to speak English. Go ahead and make all the street signs and ballots bilingual to encourage “fairness and inclusion” but the worldwide language of business and success is English. To work against the speaking of English is to welcome failure.
The unassimilated in America, the non-English speakers, are virtually unemployable, making them permanent governmental siphons perpetually manacled to the lowest class due to the diligence of the liberals.
Who “benefits” from the “Soylent Green”-ing of the permanently unemployable immigrants? How far up the socio-economic ladder of success can the unemployable go? Where do they go when they can not and do not succeed? Straight to those whose policies and practices permanently placed them into the socio-economic sewer. They turn to the Democrats home grown slavery: generation after generation of perpetual “benefits” bondage. The underclass rarely picks up on the fact that the liberals are actually their oppressors. Quite to the contrary, most suffer under a bizarre “Welfare Stockholm Syndrome” believing the liberals are somehow liberating them. That is as ridiculous as the prisoners believing that they own the steel bars and gray concrete walls of the their cells.
This “liberal neo-slavery” is not held in place by shackles of iron, it is held in place by the shackles of unaccountability, welfare addiction and sloth reinforced by the liberal’s failure mantra. These “functional illiterates” believe that their only shot at success comes from one more tug on the arm of a slot machine or one more lottery ticket. And where will a percentage of the monies collected from the casinos and the lotteries go? Right to the public schools. That is the definition of a liberal conundrum…
Minorities comprise a considerable percentage of the liberals targeted underclass, yet they instinctively flock to the Democrats whose brand of “condescending compassion” pigeonholes them for endless imprisonment on societies lowest plateau. It’s the liberal’s version of “Life without the possibility of parole.”
I will never understand how or why, the benefactors of the liberal’s “backward benevolence” never revolt against their liberal enablers. The lowest class must find their lack of responsibility so invigorating that their obvious enslavement to handouts takes precedence over a normal person’s ambition to achieve. The lowest class has thus become “indentured servants” to the liberal welfare mentality. There is no nobility in accepting the liberal lifetime stipend.
The liberal mindset of failure reinforces the belief that you can’t accomplish anything and that “Mother Liberal/Socialist Redistribution-ist” will “take care of you”. The liberals have the audacity to say that they are “unifiers, not dividers” when everything they say and do is focused upon division, divisiveness and exclusion.
Imagine if the liberals ran the animal kingdom. The birds would never leave their nests. The lion cubs would never leave the den. It is understood that the mother will turn her back on her young. The young understand their obligation to be productive members of the pack. The liberals “mother” the accountability out of the lower class through “victimization indoctrination”, it is someone else’s fault. The lower classes obligation to actively participate in their version of success in life is aborted by the liberal’s disjointed “compassion.” Each individual futility is thus transformed into a lifetime of spiritually cancerous “benefits” by the progressive enablers. They are actually orchestrating the mass failure of the lowest class to secure the Democratic “voter base” in order to have access to the cash register where they can redistribute that which is extorted from those of us asinine enough to be gainfully employed.
It is amazing to consider that the District of Columbia spends nearly $17,000 per student within their public schools. The results? Twelve per cent of their 8th graders read at 8th grade or better proficiency and seven per cent of their 8th graders are at 8th grade level in mathematics. The obvious “problem” here is a lack of sufficient funding..
The story identified the “functionally illiterate” as those who have trouble “filling out job applications.” To the liberals that reads: “Success!!” By destroying the public schools in collusion with the teachers unions, by encouraging ignorance in our immigrants and by damning assimilation as a discriminatory western carcinogen, the liberals have succeeded in making another life valueless. They have also succeeded in securing a lifetime of Democratic votes as they continue their charade of enslavement laughingly passed off as “compassion.”

ANOTHER WELL-WRITTEN AND FINE ARTICLE, LARRY. HONESTLY, DEPENDENCY SHOULD NOT LAST FOREVER.
ONE OF MY LONG-LASTING AS WELL AS MEMORABLE EXCHANGES HAPPENED BETWEEN AN EX-TENANT OF MINE AND ME. SHE WAS ON SECTION 8 IN A TWO-BEDROOM APARTMENT. ALL OF HER RENT WAS BEING PAID THROUGH THE PROGRAM. SHE WAS NOT EMPLOYED BUT FELT HER CHILDREN DESERVED A BACK YARD FOR THEM TO PLAY IN. WE HAD NO SUCH ACCOMODATIONS AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX, ALTHOUGH A GRADE SCHOOL PLAYGROUND WAS DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET. SHE WAS UP-IN-ARMS BECAUSE SHE HAD NOT BEEN GIVEN A HOUSE BY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. I ALWAYS HAVE WONDERED HOW SHE THOUGHT SHE WOULD MAINTAIN THE HOME SHE WANTED SINCE SHE WAS UNEMPLOYED AND PROBABLY UNEMPLOYABLE. PERHAPS SHE WOULD GET FREE MAINTAINANCE AS WELL.
