I have heard it said that, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” By that logic, we can conclude that it took longer than a day for that which was Rome to be destroyed. Likewise, that theorem can be applied to the social, cultural and political climate within the United States today.

It is quite possible that the reason that “discourse” in this country has taken such a vehement turn could be due to the fact that people no longer go into a discussion of current events for the mental exercise, they go into it to “change the perspective” of everyone they are arguing with.It seems that there are those who specialize in “colorful metaphorical simplification”, which is a sexy term for “name calling,” at the expense of the exchange of ideas.

For well over twenty years now, I have been “compelled’ to write down my thoughts on the passing scene. I do not know why, but I reached a point where I “had” to write things down. I moved rather quickly to the realm of “political commentary.”I believe I have not changed my mind relative to my core convictions since I was about twelve. If you ask enough questions, you will get enough answers. I feel it is easy to cut the wheat from the chaff when you are not shy about asking questions.
