Mr. “There is only one President” Barack Hussein Obama has certainly been a very busy man. The rest of us can only anticipate the thrashing that our life savings will take, as we will again witness ANOTHER “New Deal”, only this time it has been ushered in under the comical ruse of “change”. Speaking of another “ANOTHER”, looking at the lineup that he has already assembled, it would appear that Hillary Clinton won the Presidency. The fledgling Obama administration looks an awful lot like ANOTHER Clinton administration, the one from about ten years ago..
The charade of “change” hasn’t stopped there. The “impartial” media is still working on “Shamalot”, as Michelle O. begins the magical transformation to Jackie O. That masquerade isn’t as detrimental to the country as the resurrection of FDR’s New Deal, soon to be implemented by 2008’s “New Schlemiel”..
As a primer, Obama yesterday reiterated that he plans “tax cuts for a vast majority of Americans paid for by the nations wealthiest”.. He expects them to make “larger contributions”..
He also said, “It is important if we are going to pay for some of these expenditures that are absolutely necessary to get our economy back on track that those who are in a position to pay a little more do so..” What is important to note is the necessity for a “firm definition” of the word “we” in all of this redistributionist rabble.. With the drafting of “Team Clinton”, the definition of even the simplest of words like “is” and apparently now “we”, should be a concern for the future victims of the Clinton/Obama revenue grab and the next series of Grand Juries..
As we look painfully towards tomorrows “New Deal”, we have to immediately notice that the Democrats are digging deeply into their befouled bag of “usual suspects”. Are you telling me that the advocate for “change” couldn’t find anything other than old Clinton hands to fill his administration? As of this writing, we will again see John Podesta, Rahm Emanuel, Ron Klain, Lawrence Summers and of course, Hillary Rodham.. It’s still early in the game, a few calls to the probation and parole offices in the D.C. area might net a few more Clintonistas who need to fill their dance cards..
Up until this moment in time, the lemmings assembling the incoming amorphous Obama administration has managed to “think outside of the pox”, otherwise known as the Clinton administration, on only a few occasions. Fear not, even the few “non-Clintons” that have been tapped have an unblemished liberal provenance. Melody Barnes for example, fresh from a stint at the uber-leftist “Center for American Progress”, will lead Obama’s health care “reform”. Obama needed another confirmed leftist to take a crack at screwing up the nation’s health care system since the last one to try is now tasked with screwing up America’s international relations..
A brief look at the “Old New Deal” just might help to focus the victims of the impending blow that President “spread the wealth around” is planning to land upon the middle class through his “New and Improved Deal”.
The “Old New Deal” basically hinged upon “increased federal government control over the economy and money supply, intervention to control prices and agricultural production”. Please note the numerous references to “control” which is demanded by the liberals, even as far back as 1933..
During Roosevelt’s “first 100 days”, “Congress granted every ‘request’ Roosevelt asked..” With the liberals at the helm of both houses of Congress today, Obama clears that hurdle of political inconvenience as well.
Roosevelt began “running spending deficits in order to fund the numerous programs he created.” At first blush, Obama seems to lean heavily on the “tax everyone” theory in order to fund his income redistribution.
Roosevelt’s avalanche of acronyms contained some dangerous governmental interventions. The AAA, or the “Agricultural Adjustment Administration” had the specific goal of “forcing farm prices up.” This burden fell upon the backs of the middle class consumers. Historian Barry Cushman says that the public was “horrified” due to Roosevelt’s “policy of enforced scarcity”. Crops were intentionally destroyed. Livestock were systematically slaughtered. One has to wonder if Roosevelt got the idea from his buddy “Uncle Joe” who in 1932 inflicted the “Holodomor” or the “terror famine” upon the Ukraine..
In 1936, the Supreme Court declared the AAA “unconstitutional”. Their verdict read, “a statutory plan to regulate and control agricultural production (is) a matter beyond the powers delegated to the federal government..” Roosevelt then came up with the idea to “pack the court” in order to avoid this type of messiness in the future. Roosevelt “asked Congress to expand the number of justices on the Supreme Court so as to allow him to appoint members sympathetic to his ideas..” Congress balked at the plan in 1937, I cannot make the prediction of a similar outcome should the issue arise again in 2009.. This “packing” is just the logical extension of the megalomaniacal need to “control” everything that is now hardwired into today’s liberal DNA.
Roosevelt, with a keen eye poised to the future, along with Eleanor Roosevelt (Hillary I) and a number of other liberals demanded that blacks receive “at least 10% of welfare assistance payments”. This despicable work continued with Roosevelt and Harry Hopkins working “with several big city mayors to encourage the transition of black political organizations from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party from 1934-36, most notably in Chicago..” Fiscal conservative Lewis Douglas, the Director of Budget from 1933 to 1934, could stand the disgrace no longer and he resigned. Douglas noted and abhorred the “destructive psychological effects of making mendicants of self-respecting American citizens” that came from “relief programs”. (Note for the record that between 1926 and 1940, only the richest 3% paid any income tax..) Roosevelt holding to tried and true Democratic two faced traditions “did not support federal legislation to make lynching a federal crime and he did not oppose the poll tax.”
Harold L. Ickes, (father of Harold M. Ickes, Clinton White House lackey. Detecting a pattern?) Roosevelt stooge warned that, “Sixty Families”, as he called them, could create “big-business Fascist America”. This has to be one of the late thirties most pathetic cases of “political projection” as that was the avowed goal of the Roosevelt “New Dealers”. It was nothing more than Bush League class warfare.
The New Deal was nothing more than liberal deficit spending that began in 1933. Roosevelt said that, “it was up to the government to create an economic upturn..”
Economist Robert Higgs believes that the end of the Great Depression came as a result of “the relaxing of Federal control over American industries”, that it had nothing to do with the New Deal. The New Deal exacerbated the problem..
Just as Obama is “popular” with the today’s Europeans, Roosevelt was just as popular with a number of Europeans as well during his time. Mussolini in a 1933 essay, admiringly said that “America has a dictator..” The Nazi Party official newspaper (no it’s not the New York Times, that’s today’s..) “Volkischer Boebachter” routinely praised Roosevelt. He even received fan letters from Adolph Hitler, one saying, “The President’s successful battle against economic distress is being followed by the entire German people with interest and admiration..” With Roosevelt having a fan base like that, it’s no wonder that Obama went to Germany..
Even the most cursory of glances reveals the similarities between the “Old and New Deals”. But what is it that we really have with today’s Obama administration? This administration seems to be a bunch of recycled Clinton administration leftovers, just about the only ones that aren’t still serving jail time, one of which who had a father who played a Roosevelt stooge topped off with the watered down Socialism of Roosevelt’s New Deal.. “Change”, eh?
