Suitors For Souter

Just yesterday, stealth liberal David Souter has decided to hang up his communist cloak in order for the King of the Universe to appoint another uber-liberal who will use judicial activism to further erode both the Constitution and the nation under the humorous banner of “judicial independence”. It will be hard to find another liberal who will remain as dedicated to the hammer and sickle party as Souter was, but Obama and his crew of collectivist cronies will certainly give it the “old college try”..

Press Secretary/liberal town crier Robert Gibbs and his supervisor used an “impromptu press briefing” (AKA: dissemination of the socialist “squawking points”..) to announce the retirement of the asinine adjudicator. It seems that Gibbs wasn’t on target with the Democratic diversionary techniques because the brown Bolshevik felt the need to step in and warm himself within the sanctimonious glow of the klieg lights and the glare of the teleprompters..

Obama said that he was looking for a replacement with “a sharp and independent mind”, two qualities that have escaped him to this point in his “political career”.. “He came to the bench with no particular ideology”.. As the “stealth liberal” elected to the Court by George H.W. Bush, he certainly got right down to the business of developing a “particular ideology” as soon as he parked his progressive posterior on the bench..

“He consistently defied labels and resisted absolutes”. The labels that he “defied” were ones similar to “sensible” or “impartial” whereas he marinated himself in the murky malarkey of liberalism earning him the “label” of “unrepentant leftist” and “liberal stooge”.. (Note to Barack: Maybe if Joe Biden resisted “Absolut”, he might not unload so many knee slappers..)

Again Obama tried to be insightful but in doing so, he turned the light of truth upon himself. He claimed that he would appoint someone who will understand the “realities of how the law effects people’s daily lives”. Being that Obama himself doesn’t “understand the realities of how the laws” that he signs “effects people’s everyday lives”, I would hope that he is going to pass the final responsibility for this qualification onto another of his minions who might hopefully be a bit more perceptive..

He wants a Justice (strange title for someone who sits on a liberal Supreme Court..) who “would reflect on people’s hopes and struggles in the process of arriving at legal decisions”.. Never mind any of this cumbersome “law” stuff, or basing your “legal decisions” on the “law”, those books on the shelves of the Justice’s chambers are there just for decoration. Just stay in touch with your feminine side and your spot on the bench will be secured. At least he didn’t claim that their view of “international law” will supercede the Constitution even though the rest of us know that it will..

Obama said that he would consult with “both parties” which means that the phones of the only “relevant Republicans”, Graham, Snowe, Collins and McCain, will be ringing off of the hook. Pence, Tancredo, Hatch and Thune will just have to settle with being “acrimonious” due to their disagreement with The High Priest of Poppycock and his choice for the next Marxist marionette.

Just to make sure that everyone in the press room was paying attention, Obama launched this corker, he wants to find somebody who “shares my respect for constitutional values”.. The thought of the words “constitutional” and ” values” somehow escaping his lips without them spontaneously bursting into flame, is a miracle in and of itself.. Those in possession of all of their faculties are still trying to find: intrude into private businesses in the guise of a “bailout”, providing American tax payer funds to pay for abortions overseas and socializing medical care in this “Constitution” that he superciliously speaks about..

Gibbs, when allowed to speak, said that Obama’s “background as a teacher of constitutional law” will ensure that he is “actively engaged” in discussions.. What that means is that the “activist” will be engaged in the search for a fellow traveler, or in this case, fellow taveler-ette..

Gibbs reinforced that they will be “ensuring diversity in their background and experience”.. That can easily be translated from the liberal lexicon to mean, “we need a broad to keep tabs on Ginsberg when she totters off to the rest room”.. Yep, it is time to find a “gal pal” for the warty old liberal harridan at which time we will be trying to measure the lesser of two weevils..

“Diversity” is liberal code for “interior decorating” where your plumbing is more important than your priorities, your chromosomes are more important than your constitutional recall.. No fellas need apply. Every liberal woman alive will be heading off to Washington in order to give a urine sample for the liberal litmus testing soon to follow.. At least Rodham will know where Billy Bob will be hanging around..

Being that Gibbs is easily confused even by the liberal helpers of the “impartial” media, he has a tendency to repeat himself when his solipsistic synapses lock up.. “The president…will look for a diversity of experience.. but a diversity of experience..” Did he mean a “diversity of thirty five years of political experience”? Will Obama need to place a want ad for Secretary of State?

Gibbs again repeated himself, “the most important thing to him is diversity of experience”. Note that he doesn’t claim that a “diversity of opinion” is important.. “Somebody who has the type of experience to understand how the decisions that he or she might make might effect everyday average Americans”.. Allow me to complete that statement for goofy Gibbs, “unlike the inexperienced President who neither understands nor cares..” Since when has this become a priority in the Obama administration? Those with “experience” weren’t even allowed to look at a trillion-dollar liberal larceny and Obama spends his days giggling at the “effects of his decisions on average everyday Americans.”

The reality is that the likely replacement for Souter will be a wash, (normally a “four letter word to the liberal left..) unless the Obamazombies burn the midnight oil (I’m sorry, temporarily turn on the environmentally sensitive and energy efficient alternative illumination sources..) and find a loon not unlike William Brennan or Thurgood Marshall. (How about Dennis Kucinich..)

Even the simpletons at the LA Times said that Souter’s replacement is “unlikely to alter the ideological balance of the Court”. Back in 1990, the liberal lunatics were so afraid of Souter, certified imbeciles like Kennedy, Kerry and Molly Yard bawled for this “conservative” to be denied a seat. The NOW (National Organization for Wildebeests) and the NAACP held rallies and sent letters of concern..

This bovine braying was all for naught as Souter, with his subscription to “People’s Weekly World” surreptitiously forwarded to his new Washington address, followed the party line like a good Bolshevik Boy Scout.

I can’t wait to see just who the liberals consider to have “a sharp and independent mind”.. After all, these are the folks who think that Al Gore is a scientist, Al Franken is a politician and Keith Olberwomann is a journalist..

  1. Well, a great article Larry. Souter’s replacement will be interesting to see and highly improbable it won’t be a Juris who makes ruling based on the Constitution and is more inclined to be a big debater of all things liberal. Who the Prince chooses will depend on what message he wants to send. If he wants to choose someone who is not as radical as Souter, who will rule based on the Constitution and not based on what the Founders meant to say, is highly unlikely. The message is enough radical liberal Judges to choose one. But it’s going to be interesting to see what message he wants to send to the legal community. Will he go with a female, since the only remaining one is ill and most likely will retire soon. Will he choose a black? There are about 30 to 35 names of contenders and more then likely will have a history of ruling on abortion, same-sex marriage, and one that won’t question whether he is eligible to be President.

There are so many wacky opinions and rulings out there that he’s got a lot to choice from. From the wacky judges on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in Northern California to the ACLU lawyers or former lawyers that became judges. The liberal door is wide opened and the message these Juris want to send to the public. Along with my previous statements on the rulings that most likely would cross the legal bench ranges from abortion (Maintaining Abortion on Demand, no limits on when an abortion can be performed), Legalizing euthanasia, Banning prayer in school, Banning the public display of the Ten Commandments, Banning the Pledge of Allegiance, Basing our laws on the laws of other nations and not only on the U.S. Constitution (Sharia Law), forcing organizations (including churches, boy scouts) to place homosexuals in positions of leadership, Complete protection for all kinds of pornography, illegal immigration, Creating hate crimes laws to punish those who believe homosexuality is wrong, Denigrating Christianity to a secondary status, Making secularism the only legitimate religion, Gun Control, and capital punishment just to name a few things that will be on Obama’s agenda. I don’t think he’ll touch religion his fan base is blacks and most blacks are religious, so if a ruling comes up I think he’ll stay away from that topic.

At his bequest there will be abundance other things to tackle and change the course of legal history. Let’s not forget that George Bush was unable to get his Amnesty program passed, some say because largely it just wasn’t in his personality and generic makeup to be capable of being enough of a jerk to apply enough pressure to his “friends” in Congress, to make that happen. I don’t know about that but at the time Americans didn’t want that Bill to pass on the principle of no screening of those who enter or a wait period. John McCain suffers from no such gentlemanly compunction. In fact, as a Liberal Republican, he has few, if any real “friends” in the Republican Party. I’m sure that with the rate that Obama is going and how Congress seems to not care what Americans want, he’ll want to make his mark and leave a legacy behind him that most Americans didn’t want in the first place. Look at all the rulings that he can change to boost his already bloated ego.

In reviewing some of the names being bandy about I discovered something of relevance that the Republicans can throw a wrench in the Committee nominating process. It seems a gift has dropped in the conservatives laps in an ironic twist, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter’s switch to the Democratic Party this week could give Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee the upper hand in rejecting a nominee they find unacceptable. Who said there was no God? The Jurisprudence of the American Dream. Will Obama huff and puff when he doesn’t get his way? The next month will be very interesting. I’m going to do some research on the names to see who the worse of the alleged candidates is.

  2. ON the bright side, at least Souter isn’t one of the judges we could depend upon to be fair and impartial. I would be worried if Roberts or Scalia were the ones resigning!

  3. Dave, Anaheim, CA

He’ll probably reward his buddy Ayers with the position. His purpose for taking off ice is to destroy the United States and the rest of the western democracies.
Did anybody else notice he suddenly appeared on the political scene at the same time Osama Bin Laden disappeared. Shaving his beard, changing his clothes and modifying his name from Osama to Obama really fooled everyone.

  4. Maybe if Joe Biden resisted “Absolut”, he might not unload so many knee slappers..)

You crack me up Larry. Great article. Maybe the annointed one will screw this up like everything else he has touched. Appoint someone who will take the job of Justice seriously and defend the Constitution…as written. Someone who can read article 2 and decide to hear the eligibility issue and find his or hers “you know what’s.”

  5. Dave….great point!

  8. does anyone doubt the depths to which this lying liberal will go to control the Supreme Court?
Surely threatening a judge to resign, or threatening their family members until they resign, must be against the law??
But then again, once resigned and replaced with rubberstamp liberals, what IS the law?
I won’t be surprised when a conservative judge resigns, or simply wakes up dead.
Obama is just 1 vote short of his trifecta.

    Being a Massachsette rare republican
the newspaper Boston Herald {I refuse

  10. Papa Bear,

Here’s a thought. Instead of appointing someone versed on the idioticies of the law, How about someone with some common sense that has a understanding of the Constitution of the good old US of A? The heck with what the other countries in the world condone let’s just worry about our selfs.
Larry, I was taking a sip of coffee when I read your National Organization of Wildebeests and dang near lost it. Thanks. That bunch is a joke.

  11. I just had a thought that I think I know where Osama bin Laden is hiding in the basement at the Capitol building or the White House basement. That would be the last place the Secret Service would look.

I can hear Michelle say… Barry what was all that noise and commotion, you woke the girls. Don’t worry honey I was just bowling with Uncle Osama and I let him win again, I bowled with my right hand instead of my left. But, I’m going to have to call the maintenance department to put up more fly strips and roach motels there all over the place and they live in his beard. Should I call your stylist to help Americanize him? He could appear on next season “Dancing with the Stars” but his favorite dancer won’t be there, Julianne Hough, she’s taking a break. He wants me to give her a bailout to stay. Will it or could it be politically expedient for me to do that? It’s your call darling and it might depend on whether you want a mad terrorist or a happy terrorist hiding in the basement. Michelle, how many times do I have to remind you, they aren’t terrorist? They are Overseas Contingency Operators. How can I convince Americans to call them Overseas Contingency Operators when I cannot get my wife to say it?

  12. Have y’all considered that he may nominate one William Jefferson Clinton ??

  13. Dave,

As I’ve said before, the only difference between
Osama and Obama is the “BS”!!

  14. BHO will probably appoint his anti-American wife to the Supreme Court. Maybe Pelosi, Feinstein, or Boxer?

  15. noleftturnz

    Family,

In the end gang, I think that the left will “Souter” us.

They will find an obscure jurist who has made very few waves up to this point in time.

Possibly a few “moderate” decisions with which to sand bag every one with.

Once firmly in place, the facade comes off and its no holds barred..

H.W.’s sandbagger played to the liberals advantage, this one will be advertised as “impartial” and “open minded” so as to derail any conservative contempt.

As I said, it will be hard for them to find another as bad as Souter, but they will definately try to do so..

This will be the judicial equivalent of nominating Vice Admiral James Stockdale..

This candidate will probably come from nowhere, with very little to “discover” with the helpful cloak of either gender or race, but one with a definitive leftist agenda once seated.

    Just like Obama..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  16. I wonder if his nominee with have paid his/her taxes??? Hopefully they are pre-screening candidates based on that! Although there seem to be a lot of positions still empty; perhaps it’s because most of the elite left can’t actually pass that hurdle, huh? No wonder they don’t give a hoot about raising taxes…they aren’t going to pay them anyway. Ha Ha, America, the joke is on us.

Oh, and I live in Montana, so I hope it’s just a joke that they are considering sending the Guantanamo Bay detainees here (from the “Lie to Me” article this past week). That’s just not funny. Although we do have caterpillars here, so it might be considered torture to send them our way!

  17. “National Organization for Wildebeests”

    …I’m still laughing

Larry, another great article, your last paragraph sums up the whole ridiculous demokratic belief system. Yet, there are those who still believe in this imposter and his commie court to “rescue” them. Just pathetic.

  18. KC Sorenson

… these are the folks who think that Al Gore is a scientist, Al Franken is a politician and Keith Olberwomann is a journalist…

Had to clean off the screen after I read that! Wonderful line. I had to pass it on.

Great article as usual. (What happened to all the pretty logos that used to appear next to all the comments?)

  19. Larry,
I’ve been looking up the names that have come out as Souter replacement and so far most align with the other liberals on the bench. There have been no surprises so far. But two names shocked me. Elena Kagan our current Solicitor General and former Dean of Harvard Law School and Kathleen Sullivan, Dean of Stanford Law School have no experience at being a Judge, whether in the lower court, higher court and appeals court. I would think that he want someone to have been a judge instead of a Law School Dean. Sullivan Legal Expertise is in Constitutional law and the Supreme Court with a little background in Federal Litigation.
The recently another names popped up today, Pamela Karlan another Sanford Law School professor who is supposed to be Constitution lawyer who has no bench experience either.
Another name Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, is a Harvard Law School graduate and a former Michigan state attorney general, but has no experience on the bench. That didn’t stop her name from coming up earlier this year when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell ill. She “claims” she’s not interested in the post at this time but her term as Governor is up next year. Ginsberg already looks dead and she pretty sick still. And John Paul Stevens is like 89 and most likely will also retire soon.
What does this mean? They maybe on a long list of potential replacements and I’m still researching how someone is qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice but being that they lack bench experience and show no history, legally where they stand. There’s no record. I believe Obama thinks or knows that at least two more Justices may retire from the bench so he has some room to play around with these names.
For this seat I think the front runner on the short list is United States Appeals Court Judges Sonya Sotomayor.
But there is something much more disturbing and this has me worried. He won’t name anyone until October when they reconvene after the last break in June. This means some of the more radical justices names may pop up and surprise everyone. I think Obama believes he’ll have a filibuster free to name whoever he wants and will be automatically approved by every Democrat. He, I believe thinks that Al Franken will win and be welcomed into the fold. With Specter in, both female Senators from Maine, Snowe and Collins and the addition of Franken would mean Obama will have a filibuster free Congress and won’t need the Republicans to sign off. I hope I’m wrong about this and you know how distrustful I believe he as well as Reid and Pelosi are but something is up, I can smell it in the air.
As for Bill Clinton he cannot sit on the bench he had his law license revoked and although he has it again, still makes him unqualified to sit on the bench.

  20. noleftturnz

    Eileen,

All points well taken but tell me what you think of this:

Souter, Ginsberg and Stevens, all liberals.

Chances are he can’t find three liberals WORSE than these three.

Mr. Moderate, Mr. “Reach across the aisle” Mr. Bipartisan, needs to be shoved towards a pick with at least a chance of being “impartial”. It will be tough to out yell the liberal base, but it needs to be done.

Anyone who fits that bill will be an improvement over these three..

I am not saying that such a “moderate” choice will be made by Obama but it would be nice to “point out” to those suffering from “buyers remorse” that “yet another liberal” has been selected..etc..in looking towards 2010.

The real mess might occur if Roberts, Scalia or Thomas decides to retire.

Work for “change” in 2010, never give in, never give up and never again.

    Rhymes, doesn’t it?

How about, “If you’re tired of working and being left with “change”, bring about real “change” in 2010..”

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  24. Larry and Family:

Just to let you know what is going on with the politburo in the Socialist State of New York the following two Letters to the Editor were printed in our local Socialist newspaper. I’m quite surprised that they printed them but I guess every once in a while this have to print something from us “right-wing radicals” so they can’t be accused of being biased.

    Trojan horse for socialism
Re: Rep. Hinchey’s speech to the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce.
Rep. Maurice Hinchey referred to those who disagree with the stimulus bill as right-wing radicals. These “right-wing radicals” are ordinary citizens who are fed up with wasteful spending, with a Congress that didn’t read the stimulus bill before signing it into law, a bill full of pork and political payback, and dollars for community organizers such as ACORN.
I could go on and recite many other instances of pork. This spending spree will eventually become a burden on hardworking citizens. Taxes will become more oppressive than they are now. Foreign countries that buy our treasury bonds, such as China, will become more emboldened and we Americans, the borrowers, could well become slaves of the lenders.
This so-called “stimulus bill” is really a Trojan horse for socialism, the blueprint for what President Obama calls “change.” We, the people of the USA, are not ready to give up our Constitution for socialism, which has never worked anywhere in the world or created prosperity.
Hinchey, who has always derived his income from the taxpayers, will be fired in the next election along with all the other irresponsible spenders in Congress. Change is coming.
    Elbert deJager
    Accord

    Reminder to Schumer
Sen. Charles Schumer in a recent interview stated that “traditional values” and a “strong foreign policy” are over in this country.
I simply want to remind my senator, who represents us in Washington, D.C., that it is specifically these values and polices that have made us the greatest, albeit imperfect, nation on the face of the Earth.
    Tom Lapolla
    Monroe

I guess I’m just going to have send the Congressman and the Senator yet another “right-wing radical” nasty-gram. I wouldn’t want them to think I forgot about them. I’m sure they’ll be soooo happy to hear from me, again.

    Larry:

You’re right about the liberals giving us so much to write about. They also give us so much to write to them about or to call them about.

  25. Margaret in CT

Insightful as always, Larry. The pratings of the High Priest of Liberalism certainly show that the left thinks of the Supreme Court as a representative and, thus a legislative, body. Obama’s “Oh, by the way…” offhand comment on his supposed concern for “Constitutional values” shows again what fools he takes us to be. Like Breyer and Ginsberg, Obama believes the Constitution to be a “living” document that the liberals can massage into whatever shape is necessary to accommodate their evil plans.

I think that there is just a chance that, in the process of trying to please all varieties of liberal nuts, the Democrats will put on an embarrassing display of infighting. Whatever happens, the criteria will go far afield of knowledge of the Constitution: (1) must be a woman who is in touch with her male side; (2) must have an open relationship with a male mate that accommodates sexual relationships with women; (3) must have exterminated at least one prospectively “deficient” child in an abortion; (4) must have nursed at least one child while riding on public transportation; (5) must drive a Smart Car; (6) must take her groceries home in cloth bags; (7) must be a vegan…

I have to stop this reverie and get to work, but it really would be fun if this devolved into a shouting match among “women’s” advocacy groups.

  26. Larry, how disparaging to the poor wildebeeste to be compared to a lot as ugly as that gang lead by the most dangerous animal, the cape buffalo, that masquerades as the speaker of the house of non-representatives. One must wonder why the libs are fighting so hard for the Homos, trans gendered, and other misfits until one looks at the specimens on display at the Kremlin on the Patomic. Birds of a feather flock together. We need to put our gazelles on display so the American people can compare the real to the pseudo and decide which is real and which is a knockoff of the real thing. Top pick for the supreme court is that pseudefemale from New England that thinks it is a crime to punish a criminal. Just think of how much money they can save for Acorn, nonworker, and other missfits if we put no one in jail. She would fit right in with the herd of wildebeests in the Kremlin.

  27. I apologize. This is off subject but has been on my mind for some time now and I have to express my thoughts on it.

I was born, raised and live in Nebraska, a state that advertises itself as “The Good Life.” It’s motto should be “The Poor Life” considering the inordinate amount of taxes it’s citizens are forced to pay. I sometimes times find myself wondering if I wouldn’t make good democrat material by being aware of a better life in other states but dumbfoundedly clinging to this one. The state is rated among the top 10 in taxes in the nation.

The state received a whopping $367 million out of the stimulus package and the newspaper later reported that the state legislature was having trouble figuring out how to spend it all. I, just being full of suggestions as I am, called the governor and suggested that he return the money. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I haven’t been called for any more of my counseling so I would assume they’ve found places to throw away our tax money.

But in yesterday’s paper the mayor of the state’s largest city, Omaha, headlined a warning to the citizens of the city of half a million people that their property taxes would be going up. Again. The property taxes in Omaha are astronomical, ranging anywhere from $3,000 – $5,000 a year on a 13,000 square foot, two car garage, ranch style house and this is with nothing fancy, no finished basement. I know, my Mother had one.

The mayor blames (yes, he’s a democrat) the tax hike on the city’s mounting budget problems and said that there will be cuts in city services and layoffs of city personell because of the decline in sales tax revenue. Now there’s some good thinking, Mr. Mayor. Layoff more people, that oughta help those declining sales tax revenues. Dumb Ass!!

Thank you, Mr. Obama, for all your “stimulus.” Throwing good money after bad and then only where you want it to go you socialist pork-assed liberal.

Thank you, Larry, family, and once again, sorry. I just get pissed off once in awhile and have to beller.

  28. Joe,
As near s I can tell, you are quite simply pointing out one of the biggest problems with this country right now.

    Everybody,
Here is a new petition you may want to sign.
    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=94298
    I hope the link works!

  29. For those who missed it, here is what I posted 2 days ago in “Lie To Me”. I think it covers everybody that the “Big O” is considering!

    triviaman // May 1, 2009 at 10:13 pm

Limbaugh cracked me up today when he commented on the “Big O” talking about the need for a US Supreme Court Justice (who will replace Souter) that can empathize with the “downtrodden” of humanity: i.e., the blacks, the poor, the disabled, the gay, the pregnant unmarried teen-aged girl, the “whatever.”

So, what Limbaugh proposed, is that the next US Supreme Court Justice be a:
black, poor, disabled, gay, pregnant unmarried teen-aged girl!!

  30. triviaman,

And as I’d posted after you in that article the proposal didn’t go far enough in covering all the downtrodden.
One would have to be a illegal alien black, disabled, poor, gay, pregnant unmarried teen-aged girl demanding amnesty!!

  31. Larry,

I agree with your analysis on an “obscue jurist” and we all can bet our bottom dollar that whoever it is will come out a flaming, activist liberal in Obama’s pocket.

You mentioned Orrin Hatch. He may disagree with The Burnt One on some matters but I feel he is beyond his prime. To many years in the Washington whirlpool of going from one committee to another has made him slightly giggly where he doesn’t remember true party lines of Republicans.

    Senator Chuck Grassley
    (C) IA. wants the job of judiciary ranking member but can’t get it for another two years because he’s now the chairman finance ranking member. Grassley is not a lawyer nor the ideal man for this job considering fairness. So he is trying to cut a deal with judiciary chairman Hatch as ranking member Hatch until 2010 when Grassley’s term with the finance committee will run out and he can take over as ranking member of the judiciary.

There is a better man suited to the job in Jeff Sessions as he is a lawyer and a proven conservative. It’s a given that there will be a liberal “justice” appointed, but with Sessions as judiciary ranking member we would get a better look at who the person is that’s going to be “interpreting” our Constitution.

There is to much of that “round and round the committee crap” in Washington. It in itself has weakened the Republican party. If anything there should be one term, if qualified, in one committee and your out, not to be appointed again for as long as you serve. Let them find something useful to do. Say like listen to their constituents for once?

  32. Todd:

Your link wouldn’t work for me; it kept throwing me off. However, I went directly to the website and I was able to sign the petition there.

  33. Larry,

(And everone else, of course) I was asking your thoughts on my last post concerning Sessions. I’m getting so po’d with BO (both of them stink) at every passing day, I’m not thinking straight.

  34. “Sen. Charles Schumer in a recent interview stated that “traditional values” and a “strong foreign policy” are over in this country.” Unfortunately, I too live in the Socialist State of New York. Schumer is a schmuck.

Graywolf…that is hysterical, thanks for making me laugh! The specimens on display….hehehe

    And let’s add another:
One would have to be a illegal alien black, disabled, poor, gay, pregnant unmarried vegan, environmentally-friendly, unwashed teen-aged girl demanding amnesty!!

  35. Well, Joe, my “whatever” covers the rest of the other people. I think Rush was just trying to be kind to the rest of the “downtrodden!

  36. LadyWolf,
I have no idea why the link wouldn’t work for you; it worked fine when I tried to test it. However, it is good that you were able to go directly to the site.

    Joe,

    Sessions vs. Grassley:

Grassley has faltered a bit of late and the left definitely hates Sessions..

I think Sessions would be more “verbal” with the opposition.

We do not need “courteous compliance” at this point..

Sessions would be a good fit in my mind.

    Thanks as always my friend,

    Larry

  38. Chuck Schumer saying traditiona values are over in this country……not the only one these days. My 22 yr.old ganddaughter’s 26 yr. old boy friend told me that I just didn’t get it. “Louise, he said, ths is a new era not the 40’s or 50’s. This guy voted for Obama. He lives with(and off) his parents….doesn’t have a decent job (wants free health care, of course) etc.

Anyone remember which Soviet leader it was who said (paraprased) “we don’t have to destoy you with our military….we’ll defeat you by taking over the minds of your youth.”

  39. Larry and Family:

This is not on subject, but I think you need to know about it.

Here it comes folks, yet another way to go after us “right wing radicals” who happen to have traditional values and anyone else who dares to disagree with the leftist loons.

In case you aren’t aware, the lunatics running the asylum (aka the U.S. Congress) are actually proposing to use taxpayer dollars to support programs that may label those of us who adhere to traditional values as having a “mental disorder.” I received this from Mike Adams at http://www.NaturalNews.com

“Warning: The U.S. Congress is about to pass the Mother’s Act — a Big Pharma effort to drug expectant mothers with dangerous psych drugs. Two days ago, Ron Paul introduced the Parental Consent Act to counter the Big Brother “screening” program that would be mandated by the Mother’s Act. “

Read the full text of it here:
    http://www.naturalnews.com/026187.html
    The gist of it is:

“The New Freedom Commission on Mental Health has recommended that the federal and state governments work toward the implementation of a comprehensive system of mental-health screening for all Americans. The commission recommends that universal or mandatory mental-health screening first be implemented in public schools as a prelude to expanding it to the general public.”

Therefore, it is all too easy for a psychiatrist to label a person’s disagreement with the psychiatrist’s political beliefs a mental disorder. For example, a federally-funded school violence prevention program lists “intolerance” as a mental problem that may lead to school violence. Because “intolerance” is often a code word for believing in traditional values, children who share their parents’ values could be labeled as having mental problems and a risk of causing violence. If the mandatory mental-health screening program applies to adults, everyone who believes in traditional values could have his or her beliefs stigmatized as a sign of a mental disorder.”

Wonderful little plan, isn’t it? Not only would it make money for the drug companies and the psychiatrists but it would drug the opposition into submission. Don’t you love our government, they’re always looking out for us misguided, sick “right wing radicals” and fringe lunatics who happen to disagree with them. I guess their motto is : If you can’t beat them, drug them.

  43. I respect both my Senator’s and at this moment I’m pissed at one of them. Richard Shelby is a conservative and a member on the banking Committee with Dodd. I’ll give him points for not pushing that jerks lights out. He complains about the spending bill, yet he had pork added to the last bill and people here are pissed off. Senator Jefferson Sessions is a good men and well liked and respected down here and since he won re-election last year he is set for 6 years. Shelby is up in 2010 and he may have more trouble then Sessions did because we are very disappointed in him by placing pork in the Bills that he complains that the Dems do too much. It’s bad for the Democrats but fine that the Republicans. People are happy with that at all.

Jeff Sessions is a good man, smart, well liked and would make a great candidate for the Judiary Committee. So Joe, you got my backing. You can tell that he is a good man because last year a wrote him and Shelby both and demanded that they both reject the Bush Bill that lost John McCain the election because he didn’t like it but signed it anyway. Both did as I wanted them too, as well as so many others. Since then I get a letter from him almost monthly asking for suggestion what we like or don’t like about a Bill or how do we want him to go forward. My Congressman Jo Bonner does the same thing but weekly. I like that we have these representatives, actually representing us in Congress asking us what do you want me to do, please tell us. Are you happy or unhappy with the choices I’ve made on your behalf. It’s scary, maybe we can bottle it and sell it on QVC.

In NJ we barely saw a Freeholder let alone a Senator or Congressman. We did at one time had a congressman go door to door to introduce himself, he asked what he want us to do, where were the worrisome things. Nice guy and there was a article in the paper that people were annoyed and complained. He was there only two years and was replace by a liberal (which was not easy to do, we live in one of the last strong holds for the republican party. The liberals from northern areas of the state and parts of NY and PA decided to relocate to Clinton NJ that was once solid republican and now was a liberal across the board).

  45. Eileen,

That’s quite a pair of senators you have there! I too get letters from my senators and legislator in response to the e-mails and letters I send to them on various issues. And they’re not “thank you” form letters either, they do address the issue of which I’d originally written them about.

One of my senators is a democrat but exercises good judgement in how decisions will effect his constituents and the country as a whole. He’s not a down the liner and has some common sense. The other senator is a Republican, young, and holds true conservative values, he’s doing well. My congressman republican, a guy who thinks Nancy Pelosi has the red and black cables on her battery crossed and has said as much in one of his phone townhall meetings. Good man.

But all of the letters end with encouraging citizens like me to contact them so they would know how we feel about things. Your two senators have the right idea in sending letters out and asking the people their opinions on what course of action they think should be taken by him. I’m definitely going to suggest this to all my reps. in my next mailings to them and use your two senators as examples!

  47. Making a case against the Unions who support Obama.

Then you and I have an issue with how we see “concessions.” The UAW concessions were minor and really didn’t matter in the long run. They suspended the jobs bank, allowing the automakers to delay payments for a retiree health care fund and looking at other contract provisions to help save the ailing companies.

But, while the health care aspects of the contract will be delayed they may have a more immediate effect on the automakers’ bottom lines, potentially putting off billions in payments, suspending the jobs bank and the contract provision that lets laid-off workers collect nearly all of their pay has more symbolic impact on the automakers. So if they are receiving full pay when being laid off, then how in God’s name does that help the ailing automakers?

A concession that will help a company rebound in a declining market and economy and help build up a new base is changing the hourly wage to one that is manageable. You don’t need to belong to a union to make good money. I make $55,000 a year, we have no Unions demanding higher pay and more benefits nor are we paying union dues. My company pays a competitive wage, they pay for 2/3 of my heath benefits (which changed just recently in January, prior to that they paid it all) and for every $2 I put into my 401K they put a dollar in, again prior to the changes the matched dollar for dollar). They are saving millions and with most employees we were happy to help our employer out. There were some who whined, but in the long run most were just happy to keep their jobs and make the benefit concessions.

I’ve worked for other companies and businesses that paid competitive wages and I made a descent salary within the free market. None of my jobs were minimum wage, I made great money, had great benefits, who were willing to work with their employees when times were tough. When a company cares more about their employees then the bottom line. And I didn’t have to $75 pay a month in union dues or pray that they would have gotten a better deal, because I doubt they would have. The interesting thing is my two lowest paying jobs were the ones the unions controlled.

I have a friend in NJ who works for GM and over the years he has been laid off and I always thought it was really stupid that when he was laid off for a few months collecting his full pay and benefit and proceeded to ran out and get a part-time job. So he actually made more money when he was off work rotation (his words not mine).

I lived near Bethlehem Steel for a time and had some friends who’s mothers and fathers worked there (friend’s parents were both laborers and management). The unions refused to relent and demanded the same things that the UAW did, and priced themselves out of a job. There demands for high wages and benefits bankrupted the Company. They can get the same steel cheaper overseas from Hyundai and others. The quality of the steel doesn’t match what Bethlehem Steel made but it’s cheaper and the purchasers and basing it on price.

Also I lived near Ingersol Rand plant and similar to what happened at BS the same thing happened there. First they were always on strike and generally cause havoc on the narrow roadways. And similar to BS the laborers basically priced themselves out of the free market. They want higher wages, the company needs to pass that off on their customers and if the buyer has a chance to save some money by buying it elsewhere and much cheaper who do you think they buy it from? Most of the plant closed the only remaining section still opened were the Government contracts with the Navy. It was quite sad to see the once thriving companies with hundreds of empty building that were now being torn down.

Do you still think that those who forced the close of two big companies, laid off closed to 30,000 people in the area wish they had made better choices in the long run? Two of the areas biggest employers totally gone. I had two friend’s fathers commit suicide because they were unable to find any work. Those are the facts, jack. I’m not padding my information, just pointing out the errors in your ideas.

    Way to good Unions!

  48. This morning on Fox News a women appeared on America’s Newsroom who was a former clerk or something in Congress. She created a website where we can tell Congress how we feel regarding their job performance. The website is http://www.gradegov.com/ grade the morons and pass the link on.

  49. Eileen,

I worked building trades as a union member for better than thirty years. Started off as a laborer, digging ditches but was finally able to gain induction into the “Steamfitters.” This a craft that is educated in the various system workings of heating and air conditioning installation and repair in both the residential and commercial fields. The ‘fitters’ are responsible for the building of the many electrical power houses through the high pressure steam and related piping that is required of the turbines to produce electricity.
OK, short history of what I did.

What I wish to point out is that although I didn’t exactly get along with my union over various reasons, our union was still prone to the up and down swings of the economic moods. We were not guaranteed our wages, we did not have ‘one’ employer, it was possible that we could have a different employer ever week the whole year through.

The employers did submit some into their employees benefit and pension plans but it was less than the employee paid into it. Because we were a union and had a contract they would never dream of cutting our wages either. If a person were off work for three months a union member would have to start paying his own monthly premiums for his health insurance. In the 70’s that amounted to $30 dollars a month, seemed like a lot then, probably comparable to $50-$60 a month now-a-days, I don’t know. It’s premium health insurance that I retain today, for free, as a retiree. Except for the $200 dollar deductible.

I’m not defending unions here. I’m merely saying that within the case of the UAW there isn’t a craft there. Any idiot can screw nuts and bolts together. They don’t actually “build” the cars there, they assemble them. It would be a safe bet that if some of them hadn’t ever seen or ridden in a car, they wouldn’t have the slightest idea what the things they’re assembling were to be used for.

One has to ask the question; Did the UAW cause the collapse of the auto-makers or did the auto-makers bring it upon themselves? I think the companies over riding greed of losing some money over strikes by the UAW, they let the union acquire the driver’s seat straight to bankruptcy.

I have been paying my “membership dues” to my union ever since my early retirement even though it wasn’t necessary. When the news broke that the unions were backing the amnesty programs, “my” union has seen the last of any money from me. In fact, I will take more of a special delight in receiving my monthly pension checks from them, and in not worrying about the expense of doctor’s bills I send to their insurance as if they were my own!

  50. Eileen,
Did you know that you can only grade one congressman per day on that site?

  51. Joe,

What I posted about the unions was an error on my part. I was debating some liberal on another board. It was never meant to post here.

We can debate it here if you want though.

The background of the debate was that if you aren’t in a union, you will make minimum wage. So many people jumped all over his comments. Because they were untrue. If you want to join a union, that’s fine with me BUT, I have worked at 2 places in my job history where we had a union. Both local government agencies and we had no choice, if we wanted to work there we HAD TO JOIN. One paid me $16,000 a year and the other paid about $20,000 not great pay, union dues were fairly high when bring home less then $300.00 every two weeks. My take home pay was $296.00(after taxes) every another week, and they took $36.00 out in dues. Luckily I didn’t have a lot of bills so I was able to get by and ended up having to take a second job when Christmas came. The benefits were too great either, we were told we’d have the State of NJ heath care plan (which was a great plan health, dental, eyesight ect.), but that never panned out. The county choice a private plan.

My disagreement with this gentlemen involved the pay and benefits. My last job prior to the move here to Alabama was a energy company, who paid competitive wages within the company’s field. I made $55,000 a year (including benefits and over time). We at one time had the company pay all our benefits (the heath plan, dental, eyeglasses) but before I moved they asked us to accept some changes, they paid 2/3 of the health plan and the employees paid the rest. Our 401k at one time was $1.00 match, then it changed to $2.oo the company would put a dollar. There were some who griped and whined but most of us. Most of us were happy to help them save some money, which was millions per month so that we could keep our jobs. He said if we had a union we would have never lost the things they took away. But, jobs would have been lost because of it. He didn’t seem to care unless the job that was let go was his.

I understand that the unions fill a service for many, my uncle was a machinist and electrical contractor and he needed to belong in a union. When he left Long Island in the late 60’s and moved to Florida the pay wasn’t close to what he was making, but the dues remained the same. He eventually left the field and became a traveling salesman for an well known alcohol distributor. He liked to talk and a lot so this job for him was great. The company gave him a car and he traveled up and down the eastern side of Florida.

The two lowest paying jobs I’ve had were the same ones that had unions. I went ever join another union again.

    Todd,

I just made a note of the website address. When I tried to go to that site I couldn’t get in. I think because it was right after that segment ended and it was really busy. I still haven’t tried it yet.

  52. Eileen,

Debate, no. I just wanted to address the issue that there are differences in “unions.”

Whereas since the “unionizing” inception, the resistance to them by business owners. The forming of unions among by the American workers, on the onset, was a good thing and made low wages and children sweatshops a thing of the past. Their leadership has since remained a wage standard for qualified non-union workers.

But the unions have grown beyond that once noble cause in becoming to powerful, to controling, not only in the field of employment but politically as well.

I think more than anything that gets to me about the unions, my belonging to one of them and the one’s that I see getting the headlines in the papers, are the differences. My differences. I had work ethics my Daddy taught me and above all else, I upheld. And this ain’t no brag, just fact, I’d have employers call the union hall requesting them that I be sent back to them. I did my job, I did it right, and I did it right the first time.

I’m not a prideful man but I took pride in that over my union.
