Funding From Somewhere

“Turbo” Tim Geithner (Who reminds me of the “Goth Kid Leader” from South Park) said on Sunday that he “cannot rule out higher taxes to help tame an exploding budget deficit..” The Yahoo finance story that details this information is entitled “2 Obama officials: No guarantee taxes won’t go up”. However, the title is incomplete. Please allow me to finish it: “No guarantees taxes won’t go up is a guarantee that they will..”

The goofy “deer in the headlights” Geithner, according to the story, “would not dismiss raising them on middle-class America as part of a health care overhaul.” One Obamazombie will tell you that they are saving the economy (Rahm Emanuel) and the next one tells you how they are going to destroy it by taxing the middle class into oblivion. (Tim Geithner) It is obvious that one of them is lying and it is also obvious which one of those statements is a lie..

When Obama sends his shills out to talk for him on a Sunday morning he might want to make sure that they are all reading from his teleprompter. Geithner said that “the White House was not ready to rule out a tax hike to lower the (Obama) federal deficit.” Larry Summers, exposing the world once again to his liberal genius (who can forget his eloquent reasons for the dearth of women in the fields of science and engineering while he was the President at Harvard..) said “Obama’s proposed health care overhaul needs funding from somewhere..” That “somewhere” is the American middle class and that “funding” is a targeted tax upon them. Ready or not, here it comes.

Apparently the narcoleptic Summers has fallen asleep at more than just the Obama meeting with credit card officials in April. Summers must have missed Obama “repeatedly” vowing that “you will not see any of your taxes increased one single dime..” during the campaign. When Obama gets around to raising your taxes by thousands upon thousands of dollars, would it be a “technicality” to point out that that total isn’t “one single dime”? Would that “technicality” mean that Obama wasn’t lying or is it just another example of malleable liberal deviousness? Seems silly to ask, doesn’t it..

Summers then pulled out what could possibly be the biggest understatement ever uttered about the Obama oligarchy. “There is a lot that can happen over time..” There is no doubt that we will need “time” to safely unearth all of the economic depth charges and all of the free market IED’s left behind by the sinister socialists. “It is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out, no matter what..” These are the words that the “always playing an angle” leftists seem to live by. “Ruling things out” isn’t that hard for some people, people with principles. For example, President Reagan “absolutely ruled out” giving up on SDI at Reykjavik. He “absolutely ruled out” giving in to the Soviets and to the curse of communism. Those are just a few reasons why these are very perilous political times, those principles are nowhere to be seen in the liberal labyrinth that is Washington.

Speaking relative to bringing down the Obama deficits, Geithner said, we’re not at a point yet where we’re going to make a judgement about what it’s going to take..” This just means that all of their polling data from their focus groups hasn’t been collated and analyzed and it hasn’t made it back to them yet. They had better be careful who they are polling on this.. If they continue to ask the liberal base of mendicants, moochers and marionettes as opposed to the middle class “victims” of their progressive pickpocketing, their false sense of security based on bogus charts and graphs will be their downfall..

As the “Pollyanna Progressive” prances towards his health scare “plan”, yet another of his “number one priorities” he, nor apparently anyone around him has no idea how it will be paid for. This all seems to stem from a basic misunderstanding of how capitalism operates and how unimpeded capitalism actually raises revenues. The free market is as much a mystery to the left as the bathtub.

Just as one example: “Cash For Clunkers”. This is the standing argument for the “blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut”. Here is why the popularity of the program (that someone in the Obama administration got RIGHT) baffles the Bolsheviks..

The “plan” is based upon consumerism and capitalism. Our economy is based upon both manufacturing and consumerism. Unfortunately, most of the “manufacturing” going on in the world today is taking place in China. We are still left with consumerism and the one area where we still have a decent manufacturing base in the United States, which is in the automotive industry. (To boot, didn’t the Obama government just “buy” General Motors and Chrysler??) The “Clunkers” incentive ENCOURAGED consumerism by benefiting the consumer, not punishing him or her through the liberals beloved taxes.

Lower taxes and tax rates that positively affect the consumers ENCOURAGES spending which will in turn RAISE the revenue stream (the one the liberals love to swim in..) INDIRECTLY and in the RIGHT WAY. This the RIGHT kind of spending, NOT the Obama kind of “spending”.. The consumer, NOT the government, does the RIGHT kind of spending.. If the liberal government would allow capitalism to work unimpeded, they would receive a “windfall profit” in taxes that they could then lovingly redistribute to their subserviants. Simply raising taxes DIRECTLY upon the middle class consumer shuts the entire process of capitalism down.

The question becomes how did this little program manage to make its way into the Marxist mess of Obamanomics? These knobs “invested” sixty billion dollars into the new “Government Motors”, couldn’t they possibly see the potential impact that a “Cash For Clunkers” program could have upon their “investment”? I suppose that is why the program is out of money yet they funnel billions towards the “ethanol idiot fuel” ruse.. If they need it spelled out rather simply, consumers given a tax break consume. Consumers “penalized” by taxes don’t, can’t or won’t consume..

Larry and Tim may enjoy playing dumb in public about the “funding from somewhere” for the “Socialist Soylent Green Health Care Final Solution” but the middle class understands the inherent dangers of the intrusive liberal economics better than they ever will.

Everyone should send a message to all of the Senators and Congressmen that a yes vote on this health care plan will been accepted as their letter of resignation.

  2. It’s quite plain, Larry. The idiots in the current administration weren’t thinking past “crush all those gas guzzling ‘tanks’ before the last of the polar ice caps melt”. They STILL don’t get it – this bunch undoubtedly thinks everyone sucking up the $4500.00 clunker credit is simply going green in honor of Algore’s Unpleasant “Lie” thingie. They don’t have sense enough to understand capitalism.

Still ROTFLMAO at liberal college town Columbus, OH, rolling out 6000-8000 strong or so to hear Judge Napolitano (of Fox Cable News and Radio fame), et.al. at a “Liberty” rally … whilst concurrently giving OH’s D.C. Senators (good RIDDANCE to the retiring RHINO Senator Voinovich [and not a MOMENT too soon, either]) Sherrod Brown (D) and Representative Tim Ryan (D) a real piece of their collective Liberty-mindedness!

I’ll finally be damn, Larry and family, at least SOME of Ohio appears to be rousing itself from its collective political malaise and slumber … and I laughed equally as hard at the Philly “welcome” spinner Spector and his sidekick Kathleen were on the receiving end of.

Hell, even the nutty azz far left is after ’em too, for not being nutty enough … couldn’t happen to a more richly deserving bunch!

Never give in, never give up, never quit, NEVER AGAIN … not EVER!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I e-mail these mental midgets everyday. I usually get one of their one message fits all e-mails back. Occasionally, I actually get one that mentions the issue I was concerned about.

I’ve already told Maurice Hinchey, Chuckles Schumer and his new sidekick Gillibrand, several times, that they should not expect my vote since it is clear that they don’t represent me or the majority of the American Citizens.

  4. Act now to defend your health care!

We can’t afford to let a government-run plan raise our taxes and create long waits for treatment. Give Seniors Counseling sessions to die with dignity instead of medication and procedures/surgery. That’s not what we call responsible health reform. Sign up to say no to government-run health care.

  5. When I read Summers “funding from somewhere ” quote a few days ago, my first thought was : how typical of this crew – devise a spending scheme without the means to cover it. But then , my next thought was : here they go again – more taxes ! When is it going to end?

Look at the “clunker fiasco”. On one hand they want to alledgedly remove gas guzzlers from the roads, and encourage sales of new cars; BUT, on the other hand, the Fed subsidizes public transportation , namely, they don’t want you to drive your car. So to appease these idiots, I should buy a new car, and then take the bus !!!

Also, according to some auto dealers, many of the “clunker” deals are on upscale cars ( Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, etc ) . Obviously not domestic vehicles. Therefore, how is this helping the ‘little guy’ that they so often purport to help ?

Apparently terms such as “logic” and “intelligence” do not fit into the DC lexicon !

  6. I don’t expect “RIGHT” kind of anything from this administration….especially not right kind of spending. I, too, am “representated” by Schumer and his new minion Gillibrand….they (or I should say their staff) probably know my name quite well by now, in my effort to make it perfectly clear that I will vote for anybody BUT them, due to their love of my tax dollars for their screwy plans. America is waking up……NEVER again

  7. JJ:

I worked for a local government for 22 years and dealt with state and federal governments as well. Logic and intelligence do not fit into the lexicon of any governmental or political entity.

  8. Cash for clunkers should be for U.S built cars only.
That 4,500.00 is coming out of tax payers pockets.
So we are paying part of the
1 billion to buy foreign made cars?
I was HOPING that obama would get at least one thing right.
Funny how the word HOPE for a democrat ,
and the word HOPE for a Republican can mean different things.
It`s like the game of hot potato takes on a whole new meaning when it`s played by starving people.

Haven’t we been waiting for someone to say “tax increase”? The curtain is beginning to rise, and soon the Wizard of Oz will be exposed as just another politician who spends first, worries about where the money will come from later. He knows full well where the money must come from, and he is content with the solution. The will do’s will support the won’t do’s until there is no capital being generated to fund anyone.

Did anyone see the report over the weekend that Govt Motors has had to consider rescinding their decision to close some of the car dealerships? Turns out that some of the present car owners in rural areas would be forced to drive 60 miles or more for service. Lawyers used to work according to the guidance of the officers of the company—the businessmen and -women. Now they and politicians who are blissfully unaware of the realities of the business world are guiding the company.

Don’t forget the lamentation of George McGovern when his inn went bust in Maine: “In retrospect, I wish I had known more about the hazards and difficulties of such a business…. I wish that during the years I was in public office I had this firsthand experience about the difficulties business people face every day. That knowledge would have made me a better Senator and a more understanding presidential contender… tO CREATE JOB OPPORTUNITIES, WE NEED ENTREPRENEURS WHO WILL RISK THEIR CAPITAL AGAINST AN EXPECTED PAYOFF. Too often, however, public policy does not consider whether we are choking off those opportunities.”

Am I subsidizing higher than Blue Book value buyouts? I haven’t had time to do the research to determine why the program was so popular. Usually, such popularity derives from the sense that the recipient is getting something for nothing—or from “players” who quickly figure out how to defraud the hapless Government.

  10. Margaret in CT,

Defrauding the gov’t. is a way of life for far too many people; and, unfortunately in many cases it is a fairly easy thing to do. I would also include wasteful gov’t. spending in that category. Which means that a lot of politicians are also guilty. Anyone for term limits and elimination of earmarks ?

  11. Margaret,

I prefer to think of him as the “Wizard of Odds”..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  12. JJ,

How about we move election day to April 16th..

That would show ’em who’s boss..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  13. I live here in Columbus, Ohio, and let me tell you, people here are slowly figuring out that Obama was a bill of bad goods. My libby sister and brother-in-law haven’t figured it out (she still thinks Obama may go down in history as the best Prez ever), but they are take their Kool-Aid intravenously.

Our local libs are trying to ram a half percent income tax increase down our throats. I, of course, did my civic duty and voted ‘no’, after all this is yet another bit of my paycheck going into the bottomless hole that is government. My sister voted ‘yes’, being a true liberal, as she is unemployed, she doesn’t mind spending somebody else’s money.

Right now, higher taxes and levies are hard to sell to people who are already Taxed Enough Already.

  14. Larry,

April 16th – yes . Unfortunately it might not register with some of those idiots in congress . Just listening to some of them speak proves the point !!

  15. G.

    Exactly..

The problem is thsat the liberals don’t know how to “pace themselves”.

Their constant attempts to get blood from a turnip will become their Waterloo, I can feel it..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  16. Larry, your comment about a person trying to get blood out of a turnip reminded me of the old joke in the Reader’s Digest. (I’m paraphrasing a bit here.)

Guys in a bar were arguing over whether or not anyone could do that. In walked a pipsqueak of a man–you know, the Wally Peepers type: 140 lbs of skin and bones and horn-rimmed glasses with premature baldness–Mr. Milquetoast personified!

Well, he bragged that HE could get blood out of a turnip! Of course, all the brawny guys there laughed and hooted him down. So, he asked for the turnip that was there on the bar counter, got it and started to squeeze it very hard. Sure enough, out came drops of blood!!

When everybody got over their shock and amazement, he was asked how he did that!

With a quiet look of smugness on his face, he said, “It’s quite elementary, my boys–I work for the IRS!!!”

    ‘Nuff said!

  17. Larry its the oldest trick in the book…bait and switch. “we won’t raise your taxes 1 dime”! hold your wallets cause here it comes. These people will make Pythagoras look like an amateur with all the angles they are going to play in spinning “who the taxes will come from”. More than likely they will simply lie through their teeth, just like the Clintons. And “rich” will bee defined as anyone gainfully employed earning $30,000 a year; while the talking points reported by the MSM media lapdogs will simply say “rich”. And of course all we will get for it will be a substandard medical system, quite akin to say the Dept of Motor Vehicles, or the MTA. . This guy offered the American people the equivalent of a handful of magic beans for their votes. And unfortunately there were enough morons who took the bait. In 2010,we must get some gridlock in Congress, or otherwise he’s going to steamroll all of this Marxist social engineering right through, with nary a peep from the opposition and silence from the media. That the Republican Party has done little or nothing is a sin. I believe its time for a 3 rd party to be formed, as it seems the Republicans have been corrupted as well.We all need to be the Paul Revere’s of this age, and warn anyone who’ll listen…The socialists are here!

  18. For those who haven’t seen this letter to Obamayomama published by the Houston Chronicle, late May early June.

    Dear President Obama:
You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.
You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.
You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.
You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.
You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.
You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core.
You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others.
You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.
You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America ‘ crowd and deliver this message abroad.
You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.
You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations.
You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.
You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.
You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaugh’s, Hannitys, O’Reilly’s and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.
Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Now some serious humor. I’m not ready for #1

  19. A U.S. senator represents just a single state. But that doesn’t always mean his/her financial support comes from just donors from that state.

Consider Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), the chair of the powerful Senate Finance Committee at the center of the nation’s debate over health care reform. While he’s reported more than 100 campaign contributions from individuals exceeding $200 so far this year — about $108,000 in all — not one such donation has come from a resident of Big Sky Country, Montana.

In this respect, Baucus is not alone. Several other members of Congress’ upper chamber have heavily relied upon out-of-state donors to fill their war chests during the first six months of the year. Dodd is another beneficiary from out of state donation. Senators, on average, raised 57 percent of their individual contributions from out-of-stater’s during the first six months of 2009.

Besides Baucus and Dodd the others are taking in from donors elsewhere. Among them: Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND), who is up for election next year. He raised about $1.1 million during the first six months of 2009 from individuals who contributed more than $200. Of that sum, 99 percent came from out-of-state donors.

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND), who is up for election next year. He raised about $1.1 million during the first six months of 2009 from individuals who contributed more than $200. Of that sum, 99 percent came from out-of-state donors. Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada) raised more cash from individual itemized donors than Dorgan during the first six months of the year. Each of these high-profile lawmakers is facing a contentious re-election campaign where their constituents aren’t very happy with them and how they voted in Congress.

For his part, Reid, the majority leader, has raised about $6.6 million, during Obama’s visit with 86 percent coming from out-of-state donors. And Dodd — who was among the top recipients of out-of-state cash last quarter, and who raised eyebrows after reporting just five contributions from in-state residents during the first three months of 2009 — raised about $1.3 million, with 91 percent coming from out-of-staters.

Two other members of both the Senate Finance Committee and Baucus’ “coalition of the willing” that is crafting a draft of health reform legislation for that committee also rank among the top recipients of out-of-state individual contributions.

North Dakota’s senior senator, Kent Conrad, who is also a Democrat, raised $51,600, with 96 percent coming from out-of-staters. And Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IO), who is also up for election next year, raised $72,600, with 99 percent of that coming from out-of-state donors.

So both parties do it. On the other end of the spectrum, only Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) stands out. Alexander, who was re-elected last fall, raised $27,000 from individual donors during the first six months of 2009, with fully 100 percent of those contributions coming from residents of Tennessee. He should be renamed as Mr. Alexander goes to Washington.

On the House side there are just too many Democratic Congressman to name. Let’s just say there are a lot and the amounts from out-of-state contributors seem to vary.

I think part of the problem are the Lobbyist firms who clients represent the Energy, Medical/Pharmaceuticals Company’s, Insurance Company’s are just a small segment of industries who hire Lobbyist firms, some hire more then one. One, Patton Boggs LLP: has made $18,365,000 so far this year from their investment of special interest groups. Now, Cubist Pharmaceuticals has paid out $345,531 to four lobbyist firms so far this year. As long as candidates can except funds from Lobbyist and the Special Interest company who are very eager to accept the wads of cash to keep their campaigns alive. So as long as it’s legal for candidates to accept these funds there will always be a little doubt about legitimately. Was the money used to make sure a Bill went their way? The American taxpayers will almost always come in second place because we are limited to how much we can spend. The lobbyist and their special interest clients can feed the tiger a healthy and hearty meal by spreading it out to various candidates who are up for re-election. I think this practice should stop because it appears more like a pay off and it most likely is. Let’s say an energy Bill is before the House and the lobbying firm who has numerous clients who will benefit from a democrats Bill. Or, they can give the money to the Democratic Party through one of their Finance Division or Caucus. They will take those funds and spread it over 20 Democrats up for re-election and its legal because the individuals will receive the minimum donation. But it’s clear that the Energy Company will benefit financially from that Bill. I’ll wash your hands and you’ll wash mine.

At 8 years old, Matthew Mardirossian is too young to vote. But he and his 7-year-old sister, Karis, each contributed $4,600 to help Democrat Barack Obama win the White House. In Arizona, 15-year-old actor Hunter Gomez gave $2,300 to Republican John McCain, his home state senator. Under federal rules, minors can make political donations — as long as it’s their money and decision to contribute. Massie Ritsch, spokesman for the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics, said it’s a way people “use their family members to circumvent the limits on individual contributions,” which is $2,300 each for the primary and general elections. So, Mardirossian and his wife gave $4,600 apiece to Obama. The real estate developer estimates his extended family has donated about $50,000 to the Illinois senator.

I accidentally came across a website that listed the donation from the Liberals in Hollywood that listed how much they gave to each candidate and how much to the Democratic Party. I wish I had bookmarked that site. I’ve been trying to locate it again. I saw a pattern from the liberal side of Hollywood. They gave large cash amounts to the Democratic Party and the

In the first six months of 2009 alone, the health care sector has given $11.4 million in campaign contributions to members of Congress, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan group that tracks money in politics. Campaign contributors – from insurance companies to hospitals to doctors – are showering Wisconsin members of Congress with donations

A quick examination of business that have given to Pelosi’s re-election campaign and staring me write in the face were donations from healthcare insurance agencies. To date they have contributed $113,000 and $41,000, there are an assortment of Unions everything from building trade to misc unions. But it the insurance industry that has given the most to her campaign. A total of $153,000. I guess she will have to return the money being that they are so horrible as she has stated. I won’t hold my breathe though.

  20. beyond disgusted

“This all seems to stem from a basic misunderstanding of how capitalism operates and how unimpeded capitalism actually raises revenues. The free market is as much a mystery to the left as the bathtub.”

I remember last fall when Obama was being interviewed about raising taxes. The interviewer (can’t remember who it was) told Obama that lower capital gains tax rates brought in more revenue. Obama replied – “it’s not about the money, it’s about fairness”.

His intention is to punish those of us who pay any taxes. In his mind, we are achievers & need to be punished. Whether that brings in the needed revenue is immaterial.

As far as the midterm elections of 2010, I hate to say it, but I don’t hold out much hope. I question the results of our last election, what with Acorn running around unimpeded. Think about it, how many dead people voted, how many cartoon characters, how many illegal aliens? How many times did they vote – 10, 20, 100 times? How many members of the family believe that Al Franken honestly won that Minnesota Senatorial race? I know I don’t!

With Acorn “aiding” in taking the census next year – wow, I don’t even want to go there.

  21. beyond disgusted,

Here is why I am holding out hope.

The complacent are already getting involved.

Turncoat gerbil Specter got completely shouted down. His “change” might backfire. (as predicted here months ago.) Go Pennsylvania!!

The leftist swine are howling for this health care theft to proceed. The middle class “victims” are saying, “we dare you, leftists”.

IF the “victims” truly get involved, ACORN will have to “generate” an inordinant amount of funny votes, enough so that they will stand out like a sore thumb, casting further dark clouds on the Obama oligarchs.

I have said for years that conservative apathy is the liberals best weapon.

NOW is when we get the moderates on board as well..

  22. beyond disgusted

    Larry,

I really hope you are right. Right now people are really upset about government run health care & are letting their feelings be known. This is such a good thing. Will it last?

Remember the Shammnisty Bill in the summer of ’07? Our side, and others spoke up, very vocally, & we won that battle, for the time being. At the time, I really thought that issue would bring about the downfall of many on the left, as well as many progressive republicans. But, not at all.

The issue virtually dissappeared from the ’08 election. Many against ammnesty went back to sleep, their passion did not endure. Take, for example, Senator Lindsey Grahmnesty, who won re-election. Case in point.

My point being, we have passion now, but will it endure to Nov. of ’10? Time will tell.

  23. Well, I’m going to my Congressman Jo Bonner town hall meeting and I’m breaking flash cards and maybe a poster and I hand out information the media is hiding. I’ll tell them to make a copy and pass it to others at this event.

Rep Bonner is a nice man and he appears genuine. There are rumors going around that he may run for Governor next year.

I have to give him props coming having to come out of Congress fairly sane and lived to tell about it under Nancy’s control. I would’ve put a gun to my head. I think many of Congress are fed up with the games she plays and what she does to those in her own party.

Not to long ago she was heard saying something to another representative about the blue dogs.

Don’t worry I’ll knock them over their heads until they see things my way.

  24. Great one. Off topic, I have been watching Glenn Beck talking about the czars. What I want to know is who sets them up for payroll, how much do they get paid, are they on the civil service plan that does not pay taxes and do they have their own staff and vehicles? Fourty-four and counting…..

  25. Larry and Family”

I just received an e-mail fron the National Center for Policy Analysis regarding the “Free Our Health Care NOW!” petition I signed. The petition campaign has reached 1,015,000 signers . They are going to deliver the petition in late August. The more signatures, the better. If you haven’t signed it, you can access it at the following link:

    http://actionpack.ncpa.org

They have now entered phase two of their campaign. “It is time to let our legislators know how we feel. Here is an example of people just like you and me, letting their congress member know what they think of his plan to vote for government-run health care. Lloyd Doggett is in the Democratic House leadership. He is considered to be in a “safe” district. Yet here are Doggett’s voters chasing him out of a rally. He escapes in a car as voters chant, “Just say no.”

We can “Just say no.” across America!”

It looks like Texas got mad, is staying mad and is going to get even. I love it.

“Never give in, never give up and never again.”

  26. Arthur Nankervis

    Larry, JJ & Co.,

Well, there you go! If I lived in America I’d qualify to run for Congress. For the life of me I have no idea of the significance of the April the 16th. I have had a squizz at Google and can only find the following:

April 16th in History: April 16 is the 106th day of the year (107th in leap years); The Virginia Tech massacre; * 1705: Isaac Newton is knighted. From then on, just call him Sir; * 1883: Paul Kruger becomes the first President of South Africa; * 1917: Lenin returns to Russia to start Bolshevik Revolution. Workers feel a sense of unity; * 1981: The first American space shuttle, Columbia, returns safely to Earth.

April 16th birthdays: * 1844: Anatole France, French writer; * 1867: Wilbur Wright, American aviation pioneer; * 1889: Charlie Chaplin, American silent film actor and director; * 1921: Peter Ustinov, Bitish actor and novelist; & * 1955: Ellen Barkin, American actress.

Please let an old soldier into the secret. I’ll keep it under my hat … promise!.

Have been trying to find a Wizard of ID cartoon from circa 71 / 72 concerning getting blood from a turnip, no luck yet. Your daily ration of The Wizard of ID is free at: http://comics.com/wizard_of_id/ Today’s effort is interesting, must get his (Jef Parker – Dad and Hart both died in April 2007) material from U.S. current events (Today: Royal adviser: Sire, we have a serious Illegal Immigrant problem. King: How so? adviser: They’re all leaving!)

    Arthur

  27. April 16 is very special to me. It’s my son Greg’s birthday and he is so so special.
(And by the way Larry, your writings are appreciated.)

  28. Arthur,

Sorry for the lack of explanation.

April 15th here in America is the day that our federal income taxes are due.

As short as the average attention span is here, I figured that everyone might still remember the hole left in their savings account from the day before if the elections were moved to April 16th..

    Hows the Cobber doing?

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  29. Arthur Nankervis

    Larry and Family,

Thanks for the info on your ‘tax return day’. Better you blokes than I. I received the joke below from my best mate in OZ. It has probably done the rounds over your way, but on the off chance that some have not seen it …..

    The Bathtub Test

During a visit to the mental asylum, I asked the director how he determines whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

“Well,” said the director, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub.”

“Oh, I understand,” I said. “A normal person would use the bucket, because it’s bigger than the spoon or the teacup.”

“No.” said the director, “A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?”

ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON, OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE?

Another beaut article Larry. To me, a sign that you have nailed it is when I can’t think up any additional arguments or something smart to say. It is good that we have diversity at NLTZ where remarks are either complementary to the central theme or way off at ‘silly mid on’ or ‘deep mid wicket’ (Left Field for you chaps). Regardless, they all add nicely to the lessons learnt. The one thing (Gee, I sound just like Glenn) that I have noticed and which is in stark contrast to most other sites is, that there is no arguing, no bad mouthing, no name calling, which is bliss. Even the big-name sites that have huge followings and with multitudes of contributors, there is usually some antagonism, with some comment spaces experiencing all-out-war. None of that here which makes it a pleasure to visit on a daily basis.

It is astounding to now see the amount of mistakes being made by Obama and those he has sent forth to preach his contemptuous message on the Health Care schemozzle. It makes the heart glad to see the audiences at those TH meetings giving all and sundry more than a bit of stick. I think there will be a change of strategy soon from Obama as his messengers are getting the crap shot out of them. They can’t answer any straight question on the most important topics. I predict that Obama will conduct a tactical withdrawal here and use other media at taxpayers expense.

Larry & JJ: Cobber is doing fine, 3 months old today and keeping me real busy. He is forever trying to put one over on me and it is an effort to keep ahead of his antics. As I have mentioned before, he is as cunning as a shithouse rat and will wait till he thinks that I am not looking and then deftly overturn his water bowl and lie in the spill to keep cool. The books on Labradors that I have managed to acquire, don’t mention half the things he gets up to. I am at the stage of wondering : Who is the master and who is the pupil?

    My best to all

    Arthur

  30. I got this email this morning from my cousin Ken. Interesting. They showed this last night on O’Reilly and Hannity http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

This Obama idiot Linda Douglass and she’s asking us to keep our eyes out for those who are spreading misinformation and report it to the White House. Should we send her an email? Isn’t it the White House who is spreading misinformation about the Health Care Bill? So, be on the look out for a lying liberal and report it to the White House staff. I love my job, really.
For the record, the President has consistently said that if you like your insurance plan, your doctor, or both, you will be able to keep them. He has even proposed eight consumer protections relating specifically to the health insurance industry. I read the House Bill and I didn’t anything that said we could keep our Doctors and insurance plan, its quite the opposite there language that shows that will would eventually lose that in the future and be weaned on the Federal plan.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.
There was no “chain” email. She, like Obama obviously haven’t read the Bill. But the Drudge Report got national exposure.
First of all, this video clearly demonstrates how one smart woman armed with the facts can easily smack down an entire TV show panel armed with only “Hope and Change” and “Bush Lied”. Second of all, in this video, Michelle Malkin effectively points out that, not only is Barack Obama not the white knight that he sold himself to be, but that he also might be more corrupt (or at the very least as corrupt) than most of the previous occupants of the White House. Oh, and on a side note, he’s also one of the least qualified occupants of the White House as well–scary, huh?

and the continuation with the interview.

I give Michele props for taking on these liberal witless wonders and won the debate. She brought facts and figures with her instead of the thought and nonsense when one of their own, like minded liberals appear.

Ladies, keep drinking your Kool-aid because it looks as if there may be a shelf life for this habitual and chronic liar.

They cannot believe what she says, especially Whoopi, she’s dumbstruck and doesn’t know what to say. A liberal Democrat would never lie to the American people and how dare you brings these facts with, why don’t you roll over and take it like a b**ch. Joy reaction is priceless. I love it and good for Elizabeth who has a friend FINALLY! It’s usually 4 against one which certainly isn’t a fair and balance show. When Meredith Vieira was on, she generally took the conservative side of things. So there was two liberals and two conservatives. But I don’t think that Walters was nothing but a liberal and she could never fake the other political side of things. She tried but always revealed what she was.

I want to get this book, it shows like some of the things that I found but on a much larger scale. The reality is they book these people on the show to mock and humiliate. They tried with Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter (who Joy REALLY LOATHES) and Laura Ingraham. They’ve all held their own. So I salute you Ms. Malkin. Great job.

But I was waiting for Sherri Shepherd or Whoopi to call her a racist.

  31. Arthur,

A bed near the window will be fine – thanks. I think you got the pick of the litter with Cobber, and before you realize it, he’ll settle down.
BTW , how is the weather ‘down under ‘ these days ?

  32. Arthur,

    Thanks for the kind words.

I have tried to keep our comment section on the up and up.. An occasional four letter word might slip through out of enthusiasm.

The comments always have a life of their own. Sometimes to the articles point, sometimes when a “family member” has a problem or strife, we all come together and look out for each other, saying more than a few prayers..

    It is quite a family..

    Thanks again, my friend.

    Larry

  33. I can see some stimulus coming this way in about six months to a year. When all those who purchased a new auto to get the “free” kick back, start missing car payments, hello, yes, there will be a huge need for more repo men! Job opportunities galore! Is this just another Fannie/Freddie boondoggle? The clunker was probably already paid for.

Ahh, we can always depend on the goverment to make things worse.

  34. Arthur Nankervis

    Family,

Admittedly, as a trained and practicing lipreader, I did find it hard to keep my focus on the lips of ‘The lady In Red’ during the first 19 seconds of the following clip. Lord, if I have been tested, what a lovely way to fail. Besides, the singing is not all that bad as well.

For a moment there, I thought it was Madonna in normal gear before getting down to the kinky stuff. Damn! Lucky these boys don’t go to church, otherwise they’d be singing with squeaky voices.

    Anyway, well worth the look

  35. I left a very polite – almost a “gosh, whiz!” – comment on the White House “snitch” site, claiming that there are probably as many in government that are spreading mis/dis/NO information as there are among just plain citizens (who don’t have all the information either!). I didn’t complain or point a real mean finger, just sort of acted dumb, but, “by coincidence,” asked all the right questions (but in a polite, non-accusatory way). Wonder if I’ll ever get a reply…

  36. Arthur Nankervis

    JJ,

A bed near the window Sir! Consider it done. I’ll just do an Obama and wheel the old geezer’s bed out of the way for you. He’s on painkillers at the moment and tomorrow he’ll be moved into the hallway, right next to the chute down to the morgue. … Let’s pray that this scenario never comes about for you blokes.

I have now viewed three times over the Greta Van Susteren’s “On The Record” reports on the Cleveland Clinic. What a magnificent hospital. That place would have to rank as the best in the world and “It Works”. I have always been impressed with the level of medical care provided by and for U.S. personnel. To digress: I had just been choppered back into our SF base in SVN after a 2 week OP in the bush (boonies to you folk). Other helicopters were unloading wounded Khmer (Cambodian) soldiers and rushing them to the underground bunker hospital. I just had time to clean my kit and shower when one of our OZ medics came by my dogbox and ask if I was blood group B3RH+? He had contacted as many US & OZ personnel as possible and had no response. Either not the right BG or unwilling to give blood to the Cambode who was seriously wounded in the upper-inside of his thigh. Our beaut camp surgeon was operating as the blood flow could not be stopped by external pressure. As I was B3, I raced to the hospital and was immediately asked to lay down on a gurney next to the poor chap and swabbed down by a rather young and nervous US medical corpsman. I asked him to relax as he was having trouble finding a vein on my arms (eventually, after 14 jabs with a not-so-small needle, he hit paydirt). Turned out, it was the lad’s 2nd day in country. I had 14 bruises on both arms which really made the locals stare and occasioned more than a passing glance from my CO who flew in next day. A real beaut ending to the story : The Cambode lived and when I visited him the following day, he launched himself out of bed – transfusion kit trailing behind and prostrated himself in front of me. The Cambode nurse had told him I was visiting and he made it clear that as my blood was in him, I was his brother (Really more than that in Khmer/Buddhist culture). I kept tabs on him till he flew back home to his war against the NVA and Khmer Rouge. The odds were against him surviving that terrible time, but I still like to think that he is enjoying old age as best he can in that unlucky country. To get back on track: That bunker / hospital had the latest in everything to sustain life – You could not have received better treatment back in the US or OZ. Let’s hope that the American war againt Obama, and it is war, has a better ending than what befell Vietnam and Cambodia. ‘I still have attacks of the guilts’.

JJ, the weather in Southern OZ (winter), according to my sister, whom I rang this arvo, is just perfect – Now, she is daft, so you will have to be the judge – 12 deg top and a 6 deg low today and still on water rationing. I like it a lot warmer, hence my living in Thailand (26 years now).

My wife studied at the Cleveland Clinic R.B. TURNBULL JR., SCHOOL OF WOC NURSING after her Doctoral degree in OZ. I will play the videos again tomorrow when she returns home tomorrow from ‘Surveying’ a hospital in the ‘Hospital Accreditation’ process. I now know why she was impressed by the CC.

    Enough rambling

    Arthur

  37. Arthur, thanks for posting the YouTube video. What incredible young singers they were! The boy in the red tie sounded as if he were at least 30 years old.

Being a singer/songwriter myself, I really appreciated the excellent singing–I won’t go into the technical reasons here for their excellence, at this time.)

(Now I know where they got the tune for the famous Elvis Presley hit in the early 1960s or late 1950s called “It’s Now or Never”!)

  38. Let me see if I got this straight,
Obama’s TOP ECONOMIC advisor, Tax Cheat Tim Geithner, says we need to raise taxes on middle-class Americans.
This is the guy that Obama said was the “smartest economic mind on the planet”.
This is the guy that is suppose to be soooo smart that Obama says its necessary to overlook those felony tax-evasion charges so he can go to work fixing our economy.
This is the guy that the ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET is waiting on to “FIX” everything,
But Obama is NOT going to take his advice.
So tell us, Oblamie, whose advice are you going to take?
    Your own?
Without your teleprompter you can’t even think to the end of your own sentence.

    LIARS!

    STITCH!
    http://www.meetup.com/FullMetalConservatives

  39. You gotta love these idiots.
Unemployment figures are DOWN to 9.4%.
Of course, Uncle Obama is now saying that the worst is over and we are not headed in the right direction.
    But, here’s my point:
He SAID unemployment wouldn’t go above 8%.
    Then it went to 9.5%.
Then he said it would go to over 10%.
    But it didn’t!
    It dropped!
Even those this is “good” news (for now), it shows that these people have NO idea what is going on.
    They are GUESSING!
They are making it up as they go.

    STITCH!
    http://www.meeting.com/FullMetalConservatives

  40. Arthur,

Thanks for the window, but there is no view – only a huge image of the ‘ liar in chief ‘. Apparently Chairman Mao made an everlasting impression on a certain ‘community organizer’. And , apparently, Karl and Adolph made impressions as well !!
Nonetheless, I appreciate your kindness and effort.

  41. Larry and Family:

I just received an e-mail from ALIPAC saying that Senator Mel Martinez (R-Fl) has announced his resignation. Martinez was a Pro-amnesty supporter.

    Hurray! Pro Amnesty Republican RESIGNS!

    http://www.alipac.us/article-4437-thread-1-0.html

Please notice the last paragraph where it reads…

“Martinez has denied that he was forgoing a second term because of concerns about difficult re-election prospects in a state won by President Barack Obama. But he has struggled to boost public support because of his close ties to former President George W. Bush and his efforts pushing an immigration bill that was unpopular with many Republicans. ”

He and John McCain were the main Republican pushers of Bush’s AMNESTY bills (along with Ted Kennedy). His support levels in Florida have been very low and his chances of getting reelected are very slim.

Martinez just voted for Sotomayor and then booked out. Smells like a deal to me.
Anyone want to bet he ends up in a high government position? Amnesty Czar sound about right?

It’s a good time for Florida residents to start looking for someone who will really represent them.

Never give up, never give in, never again.

  42. Tsnmm, We agree that anyone dumb enough to work will be “RICH” for taxing purposes. I would like to agree to a third party, but it may be too soon. We have supported 3rd parties in the past to no success. Lady Wolf, Texas is Madd as Hell. I’ll get a better understanding Sat. at the “We The People” meeting and Sun. at the book study group on “The 5000 Year Leap”. The gun shops are selling like mad. Some ammunition is almost impossible to find. Our deer hunter range from 5-100+ in age. A real army. Joy, your answer will have nothing to do with your concerns, it will be a request for money. That is all the robots are programed to do. GOD Bless the USA. Join the NRA or any to all thee second amendment groups. Without the second all the others mean nothing.

  43. Stitch,

Another thing to add to the unemployment figures is they don’t include those that are no longer receiving government/state unemployment paychecks. I did the research and that was what I discovered. They seem to be paying with these numbers so that they can claim his policies are starting to work, but if you look at each state unemployment numbers they are still going up. So, call it what it is the liberal new math. Why did it go down only .01? It’s most likely because Washington DC is still hiring. But these numbers also reflect temporary summer jobs and when those students return to college at the end of the month the figure should go down. This is how Obama does the math.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) rose by 584,000 over the month to 5.0 million. The real number of unemployed in July actually rose when you add the number of unemployed who are no longer receiving their unemployment checks taking the figure much closer to 15 million. The unemployment rate was listed 9.4 percent, but they are fudging the numbers, they are also including part-time/half time workers, those whose hours were cut for economic reasons, they are no longer making the money they were when full time. Yet this administration hasn’t incorporated the number into the unemployment numbers.

The survey shows that there are 8.8 millions part-time workers and of that number has only grown over the past few months but the Administration isn’t including them in the numbers. Some are only getting a few hours a week and a huge drop in their pay. I don’t know if they are being subsidized by the states or federal governments. I cannot find that out and I have been looking. But, logically if a person worked 40 hours a week and is now only getting 10 hours how will they get the money to pay their bills. They must be getting something even if it’s food stamps.

Among the marginally attached, there were 796,000 discouraged workers in July, up by 335,000 over the past 12 months. (The data are not seasonally adjusted.) Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them. The other 1.5 million persons marginally attached to the labor force in July had not searched for work in the 4 weeks preceding the survey for reasons such as school attendance or family responsibilities.

Let’s not forget that they “project” a number such as a 600,000 for a month and the true figure is under as it was for June showed 467,000 the administration believes the numbers are getting better.

Employers cut a larger-than-expected 467,000 jobs in June, driving the unemployment rate up to a 26-year high of 9.5 percent, suggesting that the economy’s road to recovery will be bumpy.

The Labor Department report, released Thursday, showed that even as the recession flashes signs of easing, companies likely will want to keep a lid on costs and be wary of hiring until they feel certain the economy is on a solid ground. June’s payroll reductions were deeper than the 363,000 that economists expected. If laid-off workers who have given up looking for new jobs or have settled for part-time work are included, the unemployment rate should have been 16.5 percent in June, the highest on records dating to 1994.

The unemployment rate under Clinton and Bush were 5.21 and 5.27 respectively, Obama’s is almost doubled what Clinton and Bush numbers were. Clinton tried to do what Obama is doing now, he lost his nerve and got too caught up in all the scandals and realized in order to get things done he needed to legislate from the middle. Obama doesn’t care, he campaigned as a centrist but has only legislated to the left, and many lefties think it not left enough.

  44. Eileen, your unemployment % figure on the high end nearly gets close to what I said in an earlier post: the second set of the Fed’s unemployed % is actually double that of the announced MSM %! So, the REAL unemployed % is actually around 20%! (two times 9.5%)

Actually, when you take into consideration the total numbers of people currently alive in the USA, the unofficial unemployment % is somewhere around 75%! (Children under the age of 18, illegal aliens on welfare, drug dealers, legal aliens on welfare, legal residents on welfare, pimps, prostitutes, retired people living off their retirement income, people on life support in the hospitals, people in jails and prisons, people in mental institutions, people in hospices, people in medical facilities recovering from diseases, illnesses or injuries, people living off the land because they are hiding from the authorities, hobos, etc., etc., etc.,–ad nauseum!)

Are the Obamaites now doing the new, NEW math?

  45. Arthur Nankervis

    triviaman,

Sire! your list is still a little light: i.e.:

Some additional categories, courtesy of the ‘old’ OZ Army – not sure if they are still in vogue with the new chaps: Poofters; Dunces and Fowl F*****s (Those who have sexual relations with chickens).

If ‘Townhall’ events continue in the same vein as they have of late, then it is almost time for a political “De-Nacht der langen Messer.” Some Left/Liberal heads will need to be busted now, before Obama withdraws the perfumed pollies and orders in his ‘Brownshirts’.

    Interesting times ahead!

    Arthur

  46. Larry and Family:

I had an interesting conversation about the state of the country with the telephone repairman who came to fix my phone today. He is not happy with the democrats and sounds a lot like us, so I gave him the NLTZ website.

He lives in the next county and he told me the number of carry permits there had gone up tremendously since last year, and that some guns and ammo are hard to find. He does his own reloads and, from what he said, I don’t think he has a problem. His last words to me as he pulled out of my driveway were: “Buy more ammo.”

    Graywolf:

I thought you were in Texas. I’ve heard from some of our friends in Texas that they were on the warpath there. The gun shops in New York and Pennslyvania are selling out like crazy as well.

Let us know what happens Saturday and Sunday.

  47. Have you all seen the footage from the St Louis town hall? They push some young guy to the ground and started kicking him and the ones who were doing it all had navy blue or purple shirts (to hard to tell the color) that had the SEIU logo on it. Some really fat black chick was screaming something, what it was I have no idea.

They are really out to hurt people who have a different opinion then themselves. I’m sure they will continue to attack those who are conservative. They accepted Obama’s call for hitting back, and they really are hitting people. Then, he tells us to shut up. As if no one wants to here our opinion. He is such a sensitive soul, he needs to grow some balls and take it like a man, like his wife does.

Larry and Stitch you have my sympathy that this moron, Rep. Russ Carnahan, represents you in Congress. He seems to only represent liberal brain dead, racial thugs. They were blocking the entrance trying to stop people from going inside. Everything was relatively quiet, most were respectful to one another and peaceful until Obama sent his ACORN and SEIU thugs to try and stop our first Amendment right to gather and protest his policies. If anyone gets seriously hurt it will be because of Obama mostly, but also astro-turf Nancy, the Queen of fake things.

Stitch and Larry be careful if you go to one of these events. Our Congressman will start his town hall meetings on the 17th. I hope it will be uneventful, with no outrageous protesters. Anyone thinking of going to theirs just be very careful. I think it will be less likely to happen here, since most town halls will be in Senior Centers and because he is a conservative. The problems seem to be with Democrats.

    Here’s the video

You have excelled! This could be the definitive statement we have all been waiting for and with a slight modification, could become a townhall catchcry …

“Obama … He is such a sensitive soul, he needs to grow some balls and take it like a man, like his wife does.”

I’m sure there are many Left/Liberals who would relish the task of coaching the Limo Lizard in the finer points of ‘bend down and touch your toes … I’ll show you where the wild goose goes.’ But let’s be fair and leave it up to Barney to provide on-the-job-training – There is no substitute for experience.

  50. ahhh, I have to say this somewhere, so it might as well be here.

Title: Its Nice Watching The Tide Roll Out.

Today I had the distinct displeasure of being at an event where I knew 3 STAUNCH Obamites (people with their heads soooo totally up their asses that they can only see, well, “brown”) would be present.
Over the past several months these individuals have gloated, and tried to direct any conversation towards politics.
Amazing how we could be talking about the mild summer and end up getting lectured (gleefully of course) on how Lord Obama is going turn all our worries into mild admiration for his tan (did they mention he was black?).
However, since His Majesty’s poll numbers are dropping faster than Janeane Garafalo’s IQ, and “angry mobs” of OLD PEOPLE are FIRE HOT PISSED at Town Halls, not a peep today.
    Rarely even eye contact.
Not only was there NO discussion on politics, but ANY discussion (weather, dogs, shoes, anything) was short and ended abruptly with, “I’ll be back”.
To which I snickered and said (under my breath), “No he wont!”

Ahhh, all in all it was a wonderful day, watching that tide roll out.
Watching that tide roll out and carry all that CRAP out to sea….

    I think I’ll take a nap now.

Wuss Carnahan is not my congressman, but he’s still an idiot.
I was at the McMahon Ford dealership when he did his “Cash for Carnahan”, I mean, “Cash for Clunkers” speech/recitation.
    We chanted “CAN CARNAHAN”.
I missed the one where the guy got beat up.
I SOOOOOOOOO much would have loved to have been there.
I am looking forward to future events.
I will make sure our guests receive a warm welcome.
Their boy, Obama, is telling them to “hit back twice as hard”?
Little does he know I hard I hit.
There wont be any “hitting back”.

    Ft Sumter here we come!!

To date, no one knows WHERE all that money went in the C4C program.
    OBAMA WON’T RELEASE THE DATA!
He “says” they spent all that money, but where’s the receipts??
I bet some of it turns up in Russ Carnahan’s pocket next year.

    HAHAHAHAHA
    UAW losers kissed Obama’s ass,
and he SHIT in their faces!

  53. Well Stitch I’m glad that idiot isn’t your representative but for those that are represented by him still have my sympathy. His elevator not only does go to the top it is permanently stuck in predatory and purgatory mode.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the Government control protestor (ACORN and SEIU) who are protesting against the protestors? Are all very overweight and bottom feeders. Do they even understand what they are protesting or were they just bussed to the location and even giving the reason? They are just playground bullies who want to steal you lunch money. Most of the protests were physically civil just some arguing back and forth, but when the Administration sent out his pitbull’s did thing turned physical and who started the fights? SEIU showed up and created the violence at these locations, threatening and blocking the entrance to the facility, pushing people and shoving others. Weren’t the left the same people who promoted non-violence via Gandhi style?

Anyone that disagrees with this Administration seems to be subjected to mock and ridicule. We are out of touch with reality. The ones who are out of touch with reality are the ones sitting in the public’s house on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the majority of those in the Legislature House. When they need us to vote to keep them there we are just wonderful but when we demand they listen to us, we become irreverent in their eyes.

  54. Larry: is there a chance the postings after your messages could be numbered – as they are on many other sites? It would be really convenient when wanting to comment on, say, what #17 had to say, for example.
