Free Duke

The liberals are a nervy bunch. With an economy that they have intentionally driven (in a manner that would make Ted Kennedy proud) straight into the drink, they are now playing a slimy version of “Let’s Make A Deal” with each other in order to get their health scare scam on to the Senate floor. The problem is that like always, they are playing with money that isn’t theirs. Where will these “funds” come from, the middle class, the printing press that is humming away in Geithner’s basement or from the Chinese? It could end up that the answer to that sickening question is “D, all of the above”.

Two Demokratic “holdouts” were coquettishly demanding payoffs that would make Je$$e Jack$on and Al $harpton blush.. Well, maybe not. Mary “Kingfish” Landrieu and Blanche “Honest Abe Who?” Lincoln decided to tease the liberal elite within the Demokratic Party. Their votes were absolutely necessary to the leftists so it became time for Harry Reid to start spending other people’s money so that they could begin working on a bill to take and spend even more of the people’s money.

Graft being an inherent part of Lousiana politics, Pudgy Mary said, “I am not going to be defensive, and it’s not a $100 million fix, it’s a $300 million dollar fix..” (“Sweeteners for the South” Washington Post) “Fix” in the unseemly cesspool of liberal politics means “bribe”. With all liberals, the only way to “fix” a problem is to throw exorbitant amounts of other people’s money at it.. Pudgy Mary never bothered to explain what needed fixing.. Its Louisiana, something is ALWAYS broken.

“After Landrieu threw in her support, she asserted that the extra Medicaid funds were ‘not the reason’ for her vote..” Righttt.. That’s like Oprah saying that Twinkies are “not the reason” for her ever ballooning weight.. $300 million more for Medicaid, not for small businesses, not for “shovel ready jobs” in Louisiana, not for tax breaks for the twenty people in the state who actually work.. Another liberal payoff to the liberal voting base of barnacles and siphons that creates nothing and contributes nothing to an economy that they have personally destroyed.

“Even when she finally announced her support, at 2:30 in the afternoon, Lincoln made clear that she still planned to hold out for many more concessions..” These “concessions”, are they accounted for financially in the health scare bill that the fellow travelers are going to be allegedly “debating”? Where is Landrieu’s $300 million coming from? No one has yet to give the figure that Lincoln demanded in round one.

The tax dollars of others being the aphrodisiac that it is to the liberals, now we will see ALL of the liberals playing “hard to get.” Those imbeciles who rolled over in the early moments of this fiasco because they wanted to be “team players” have let their mendicant constituents down. The handout whores have all been burning up the phone lines to Washington, telling their “representatives” to hold out in round two for at least $500 million..

Lincoln said, “My decision to vote on the motion to proceed is not my last, nor only, chance to have an impact on health-care reform..” There you have it. There is the notification that the moochers of Arkansas will be throwing down the gauntlet.. After all, Lincoln is up for reelection in 2010 and it appears that she has a lot of bribing to do. When a liberal speaks of “impact”, that always means that it is going to “impact” the taxpayers in a substantial and negative way.

They are already lining up with their smelly hats in their hands. If it has already cost us an additional $300 million “fix” for Louisiana alone, how big of a multiplier should we apply to that number when the bill actually needs the same sixty votes for “final passage”? Sixty liberals all asking for at least $300 million.. At that rate, it could end up costing the American middle class taxpayers an additional 1.8 billion dollars once this Demokratic disaster goes to a vote and that is on top of the untold trillions that the health scare scam will itself cost..

Landrieu has already hit the ground running. “She went to the floor during the lunch hour to say that she would vote to proceed with the debate- but that she’d be looking for much bigger concessions before she gives her final blessings to the bill..” “My vote today should in no way be construed by the supporters (not to be confused with the blackmailers like Landrieu herself..) of this current framework as an indication of how I might vote as this debate comes to an end..” Start scratching some checks, Harry.. Thank Heaven that they are considering taxing Botox, Pelosi’s contribution to that fund will then pay for Landrieu’s larceny all by itself.. One sleaze ball liberal Senator paid off, fifty-nine more to go.. Maybe John Kerry’s Botox taxes can pay for all of Lincoln’s “needs”..

The article laughingly claims that Landrieu seeks “more tax credits for small business and a removal of the ‘public option’ now in the bill.” Judging by Landrieu’s earlier statements, she can easily be “convinced” with a bundle of greenbacks to see things Harry’s way.. Lincoln appears to be nowhere near as well versed in the ways of extortion as Landrieu. She found herself having difficulty admitting in public that she was no better than any other liberal politician. “I will vote to support, of, the, the, will vote in support of cloture on the motion to proceed to this bill..” The manure began to reach the point of maximum toleration as she continued, “I’m not thinking about my reelection in 2020”.. And Michael Moore ISN’T thinking about doughnuts right now..

Lincoln labored on, “I will not vote in favor of the proposal… as it is written.” If that were the case and this show wasn’t all about scamming and skimming more money from the coffers, why didn’t she vote against the bill “as it is written” now? This is just another liberal warning the rest of the liberals that the line forms at the rear..

The new rallying cry here has to be “Free Duke”. Randy “Duke” Cunningham was one of California’s members of the House from 1991 through 2005. Cunningham had actually formulated and circulated a list that each of his votes was to cost anyone who was interested in buying them. He was convicted of taking $2.4 million in bribes and he was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison. He was ordered to pay $1.8 million in restitution and he now resides in the U.S. Penitentiary in Tucson Arizona.

Landrieu is BRAGGING about demanding $300 million in bribes for her vote and Randy Cunningham was canned for 1/150th of that amount.. Free Duke..

  1. At least Duke was honest about it!
My 2 senators have really disgusted me in this: (L)Brown was expected to vote for this and his office wouldn’t even answer my phone calls, while (RINO)Voinovich was too much of a coward to even vote!

  2. Todd,

Duke was up front about it, hopefully the irony of the similarity of the Landrieu bribe isn’t lost.

Duke pocketed it, Landrieu’s allegedly is for the district.. and I do mean allegedly.

This mess will bring out the worst in Washington precisely when we have the worst in Washington..

These so called “moderates” are just out to squeeze the taxpayers. In the end, I can’t imagine ANY liberal voting properly in this matter.

Never give in, never give up and never again.

“not for tax breaks for the twenty people in the state who actually work.. ”

“Thank Heaven that they are considering taxing Botox, Pelosi’s contribution to that fund will then pay for Landrieu’s larceny all by itself.. ”

Please, Larry, stop…my sides hurt from laughing!!

As to the slime oozing out of DC as we speak, where are the environmentalists, greenies, Al Bore? Shouldn’t they be down there protesting all this pollution? If anything contributes to (non-existent) global warming it would be that cesspool of BS. Or do they believe this will all be fixed if they pass their health scam? I guess Reid is depending upon it to fix the carpal tunnel he’ll have from writing all the “encouragement” checks to his cronies.

  4. The sadder truth is that the media quietly ignores this and all of the other blunders of this administration while the majority of our voting society continues to be happily ignorant.

  5. Larry:

I’m guessing you may have got my email? Cause wow this is article is SO true!!! I look forward to the next addition of brain candy.

  6. My own spineless Senator Ben “ding” Nelson (L-N) made it a threesome of women voting for the bill by showing he lacks the equipment to be a man in his voting in accordance to his mouth. The only difference being he did it for free! If it weren’t for the fact that he’s a danged liberal, at least that could be said as something good of him but he’s a liberal so there you go.

A few weeks ago Nelson was quoted as saying the health care bill was, “a bad bill” yet he voted to advance it. Directly there-after he wrote 200 pages of, as he called it “letter to Santa”, things he didn’t like about the bill and sent it to off to Reid.

I’ve since twice e-mailed Nelson, the second time (among other things) telling him he incorrectly named his document and should have called it “trying to save face with his constituents while selling them down the tube.”

  7. Landrieu was up front
    also.
Larry, you out did yourself on this one.
    I laughed ,
then I cried when I found out it`s
our tax dollars buying health care we don`t want.
Anyone have anymore thoughts on who got the money going to the phantom districts?
The only thing I can think of being worse
for Mr.obama,is if someone sabotaged his
teleprompter while he was giving a speech.

  8. From what I heard the switchboard in Washington is overloaded with callers whom are mad as wet hens over this mess they have wrought. They aren’t answering the phones. They know how we feel and they don’t care. It makes me wonder and worry exactly how much civil unrest is required before these fat cats figure out we don’t want them to pass this turkey into law. I actually wrote my Senator, that would be Voinoboob. Apparently he’s decided to be presidential and vote ‘present’.

As I see it, anybody whom votes for this travesty should consider their ‘yes’ vote as a letter of resignation, because the only way they will understand our anger is to be summarily dismissed from office. Not by narrow margin, as our Liar-in-Chief was brought in, but by a landslide. Hold them accountable.

Your wonderfully acerbic post hits the mark, Larry. It’s interesting to speculate on what LBJ would think. He was the master of the deal, an expert at coercion and political blackmail. However, in those days, the Leader was in charge—so powerful that Kennedy made him VP, in part, to emasculate him. I see Reid as a weakling who is at the mercy of these fence-sitting pols who need plenty of cash to buy votes in 2010. As some senators take their seats in the storefront a la the ladies of Amsterdam for the next round in this squalid mess, I can only hope that other of them have the steel in their spines that it will take to drive the gravy train off the track. It’s possible. The democratic leadership is weak and the voters hold the cards.

  10. Joel,

    Sick minds think alike, right?

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  11. Joe,

“..made it a threesome of women..”

I would KILL to have come up with that one, a true classic!

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  12. Rick,

    Thanks for your kind words.

ALLEGEDLY the $300 million is going to Medicaid.

Not for jobs, not for small businesses, just to coddle the mendicant class in Lousiana.

THAT will certainly help the economy..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  13. Margarret,

    Bless your heart..

LBJ was a liberal thumbsqueezer par excellance.

He might have permanently damaged America more during his reign than Carter.

Oswald put LBJ in office (and OSWALD ALONE.) I don’t believe that Kennedy, even with uber liberal Bobby by his side, would have done the things that LBJ ended up doing.

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

Larry, extremely well done and thoroughly right on.

Understanding Landrieu is a case study in Louisiana politics..She, like botox Nancy; learned their lessons at a very early age. Nancy from her father in Maryland (maiden name D’Alesandro which is also a well known name in Louisiana) and Landrieu from her father in Louisiana. “Moon” Landrieu was the Mayor of NOLA and latter became a judge on the La 4th circuit Court of Appeals. His entire life was devoted to redistribution of wealth so Mary Landrieu learned her lessons well. All politice in Louisiana go back to the Kingfish Huey Long and how to extract more money from the pockets of the working class. Incidently, the 300 million bribe for this whore will end up costing her state an additional 1 billion in Medicaid costs with the mandates included in the bill. Congress does this because they cannot cover the added costs so make the states raise their taes to cover it.

Is this a great country or not????

Thanks again for the bain candy as as Joel so elequently called it. I sure did appreciate the article.

Never give up, never give in and never again..

  15. Alabama,

Your kind words mean the world..

Hope that you are feeling better.

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  18. Larry:

The “Two Demokratic “holdouts” and the rest of their liberal gang are pulling off the biggest holdup in the history of this country. We the People are being robbed blind and will continue to be until we remove them from office.

I have e-mailed the two weasels who misrepresent New York, Schumer and Gillibrand, just about every day asking them not to vote for this unhealthy healthcare plan. Since they were bought and paid for long ago, especially Chuckles Schumer, I’m sure that they are going to do just the opposite. However, I will continue to do so if only to annoy them.

While may not agree with you as to who killed JFK, I agree that he would not “have done the things that LBJ ended up doing.” As a matter of fact, I believe he was killed because he refused to sell the American people down the river.

  19. Dave, Anaheim, CA

Another great one, Larry, but you forgot to mention “Filibuster” Joe Lieberman also voted to proceed with this bill.

One other very important point; Duke Cunning- ham is a Republican and only Republicans serve time.

  20. The frightening thing is that they are completely shameless in perpetrating this fraud. They have absolutely no fear of retaliation. I fear that they have calculated that they have reached critical mass in their voting block. Maybe they are right.

Too many Americans (and non Americans) are living off the Government. I honestly don’t know that we could vote them out even if we rallied every conservative. I suspect that the ace up their sleeve is the automatic voter registration bill that will be proposed early next year. If that passes, the Demokrats will then control the registration rolls and that’s all they need to lock us out.

The biggest problem we have is that 50% of Americans pay almost no taxes. Why would they want Conservatives in office who will absolutely have to put an end to the handouts.

My belief that there are more of us then them is waining. We need some States to start to assert their sovereignty. After all, the Constitution intended that people have a choice of where to live based on their personal choices and beliefs. Creating competition among States was essential to providing a civil and free society. We have lost that by the Federal Government making it a “one size fits all” country.

  21. Dave,

I agree that Liebermann could have become a hero on this one, watch him as things go onward. (With the left you can never say “forward”..)

He has quite the axe to grind and I believe that he wants at least one more chance to humiliate the left on the floor of the Senate.

I agree with you in that he could have accomplished this with just one word a few days ago..

    “No.”

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  22. blue states,

    Spot on..flawless.

I have contended for years that anyone showing up to vote must bring a check stub from the previous week.

Seems odd that those with NOTHING in the game have a say as to where OUR hard earned tax dollars go and how much the thieves can take from US.

However with Obama targeting so many middle class Americans with his dystrophic policies, a good number of good Americans have been put out of work by the liberal elitists..

As long as the rest of the workers AREN’T APATHETIC and show up to vote, we can still put the liberals out and those who want to work will again be able to do so.

    We can dream, can’t we?

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  23. Ladywolf,

I HAVE to ask..just for fun..

    Who else killed JFK?

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  24. Landrieu doesn’t want the “public option” because then the bottom feeders in New Orleans would have to pay “somethin” for heathcare. Right now they pay “nothin” and her bribe insures their votes for another six years.
Having the same demokratic disease as the rest of the liberals, a/k/a “not being able to see past the nosehairs on her face” she forgets that the other 90% are “tuned in” and ready to take her down.
Better start lookin’ for a new day job Mary….times are tough in Louisiana.

  25. Great article, Larry – and you met your match with some absolutely brilliant repostes from “the family!” I would love to see heads roll – and count ’em! – as they roll off the guillotine in the 2010 election. I’ll knit the whole thing into an ugly scarf, playing the Mme DeFarge role with relish and genuine glee….

BTW, I was speaking “figurately,” of course, re the French (ooh la la) style of execution; but, deep within my wicked little brain, lurks some tiny bit of jihadi desire for revenge on the culprits in DC… The cry, “Off with their heads!” sounds SO apt these days! Let’s make it a reality come Nov. 2/2010!

  26. We should, by rights, be angry with ALL the senators who voted for the healthcare bill. Afterall, every one of them did not read that bill and still voted to advance it. What kind of representation is that!?

Our soldiers are dying in Afghanistan every day. Yet, Obama appears in no hurry to support or protect them. To the contrary, Obama stalls and procrastinates saying he’d rather do it right, that fast. Meanwhile our sons and daughters die and the morale of the troops disintergrate.

Yet, when it comes to reforming health care Obama demands we rush. Even if means hapless, incompetent, bumbling and corrupt government might take over 17% of the U.S. economy.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid know that anyone with common sense wouldn’t support this bill and that’s the reason they’ve been insisting it being passed without our Congressmen reading it. I’m not saying that all Congressmen have common sense, far from it, but when did “pass a bill AFTER reading it” get thrown out of the job requirements for representatives?

Obama will learn he is killing the goose that laid the golden “wealth” he intended to spread around.

  27. Cracker Barrel

Remember, no one is worthless they can always serve as a bad example. Those in Washington have their contribution to make. They are a clinical study in abnormal psychology. Thus they are contributing to our education. Now we have learned, vote them out.
Who is in charge of the asylum anyway?

  28. Brain candy indeed! I lived in Alaska for three years so when you wrote “barnacles” it seemed too appropriate. Here is a letter I faxed my congress critters Monday:

To all 535 members of the Legislature:
It is now official! You are ALL CORRUPT MORONS:
The U.S. Postal Service as established in 1775. You have had 234 years to get it right and it is broken.
Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broken and bankrupt.
Fannie Mae was extablished in 1938.. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broken, bankrupt and a leech on the country!
War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor” and they only want more. They need to be taught to do for themselves, not hold out their hands.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have had 44 years to get it right and they are broken and bankrupt.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 39 years to get it right and it is borken and totally mismanaged.
The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than ever before. You had 32 years to get it right and it is an abysmal failure. We have resources in this country to be self sufficient, but instead the legislature wants control of everything they touch, thereby giving the touch of death.

You have FAILED in every “government service” you have shoved down our throats while overspending our tax dollars AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTCH CARE SYSTEM? UNBELIEVABLE!

Yes, it is true. Government has no record of success. Is there ONE program government has undertaken and not screwed up? I suggest all of you get your affairs in order as you are going to be replaced when you come up for re-election, no matter what party you are affiliated with because WE THE PEOPLE are taking back our precious country and cleaning off the Constitution and Bill of Rights you have so cavalierly trod under foot in your world of ME, ME, ME at the expense of our sovereignty and good name. I hope you are sufficiently ashamed of what you have not accoplished, but your ego is too big to understand that YOU WORK FOR US!

  29. Sorry for the typos in the post. Wish I had thought of the word “barancle” instead of leech, but they are both pretty destructive. I sign my name on these letters. I also plan to send a few more to other Lords and Ladies of the Potomac!

  30. Richard,
Nice summation of the history of the Fed in program management! Their track record is appalling but they continue to survive because because they can take more money from the producers and “appear” to apply it to entitlement parasites.

However there is one program that they manage quite nicely; collecting taxes from INDIVIDUALS.

  31. Larry,

The health care bill has a way to go in the Senate with the debate and we may stand a chance if the “to busy to be bothered” American will educate him/herself and (as I’ve oft mentioned and you repeatedly warn us) the apathetic will wake up and find their cause of country. Those who do not will never get it through their thick heads that national healthcare is nothing more than a scam by the State.

  32. Blue State Blues,
I have posted several times indicating (IMHO) the only way to get ahead of this Freaking Fright train is through States Rights – I continue to contact my SC state representatives almost daily to ignore any and all the BS laws coming out of Washington. Never again is not long enough!! Kurt – a little right of Atilla.

I apologize for not having stopped it from happening..

  37. I fear the only way these useless ticks are going to heed any calls from us, the voters, is if we actually head to washington with pitch forks and torches! I can not beleive the hubris, the audacity, the raw nerve. They all know we don’t want this. For goodness sake, they can and do read polls. It’s getting to be time for a bit of civil unrest. A little bit more of a shove and the pot is going to boil over!

  38. John Belt,

Of course they know that we don’t want this, and they are doing it anyway, because THEY CAN.
Washington has been corrupt for a long time, and it is getting worse.
Both sides are to blame, and a third party will only give strength to the libs. Therefore it will be business as usual, unless something drastic happens.
