Live Like Gandhi

The “news” when filtered through the labyrinthine lies of the left, in the end becomes nothing more than totalitarian tripe.. Obama is so amazingly adept at destroying the job market that he even managed to lose 85,000 more jobs in December, which confounded “expectations the labor market was finally stabilizing”. If Obama’s first faux “stimulus” and his economic wizards can’t even create jobs during the busiest shopping season of the year, one has to wonder just how hard they are trying, or actually what it is that they are trying hard to do..

In “Employers slash jobs in Dec., pressuring Obama” (finance yahoo dot com) we read that “November payrolls were revised to show the economy added 4,000 jobs rather than losing 11,000..” When liberals start “revising” things, we usually start hearing about the fabricated “jobs saved or created” kind of malarkey. The jobs would create themselves if the leftists would give up on their habit of imposing their unique brand of sadistic socialism and allow capitalism to “save or create” the economy on its own.

Obama said, “we have to continue to explore every avenue to accelerate the return to hiring.” “Every avenue” that is, except the super-highways of the free market and capitalism.. Obama prefers the dead end streets of fascism and communism.. After the left has destroyed over seven million jobs, Obama was “announcing investments in clean energy”.. I am more concerned about the liberal’s PERSONAL “investments” in all of these nonexistent “clean energy” technologies and alleged “green jobs”.

With an economy that the left has personally placed in a First Class berth on the totalitarian Titanic, the liberals feather their own nests (investment portfolios) with billions of unwarranted tax dollars to produce four gallons of “clean gas” and one “green job”. After all of the illegal votes were counted, the liberals just retrofit the job of the presidency by giving it to a neophyte nincompoop and it is the only “green” job that they have actually created and we can see just how well “that one” is working out..

It is certainly a shame that the sham of “globalony warming” isn’t real because the liberals have decided to charge/blame “climate change” with this most recent monthly statistical anomaly. “The cold weather might have partially contributed to the surprise drop in payrolls..” Only the flat earth fascists could be “surprised” by the idea of “cold weather” in December.. Any minute now they will have to go back to blaming Bush as soon as everyone stops giggling at the “ice age/global warming/hole in the ozone/climate change” theorists..

For all of Obama’s braying about this economy being something that he has “inherited”, for all of the bogus “stimulus” packages and company takeovers, Obama himself is personally responsible for losing “4.2 million jobs for the whole of 2009”.. The liberals have had a strangle hold over both Houses of Congress since 2006 and they are responsible for the other four million or so unemployed.. The “rush” to pass the imaginary “stimulus” packages apparently made the problems that the Demokrat “inherited” from the other Demokrats WORSE.

Here are more Obama failures. “661,000 people left the work force last month” and “929,000 ‘discouraged workers’ who have given up looking for a job, up from 642,000 a year earlier.” Obama’s brilliant idea about how to create jobs is to penalize and castigate those in the free market who have created new jobs for centuries and to reward the liberal underclass with the monies stolen from those who have managed to earn it. The upper and middle class business owners cannot create jobs when they are permanently taxed and perpetually penalized and the middle class cannot “invest” in capitalism when they are saddled with the burden of bankrolling the socialist schemes and the redistributionist phantasms of the liberal left. “Mission Accomplished”, Barack..

The economy “shed a more-than-expected 85,000 net jobs in December..” (Economy loses 85k jobs as employer remain wary” finance yahoo dot com) The overall picture is appreciably worse. With 661,000 fewer people in the work force, this “showed that more of the jobless are giving up. Once people stop looking for jobs, they’re no longer counted among the unemployed.” To paraphrase from the parasitical left, these unfortunates should be renamed the “invisible jobless” for the reality of their actual numbers places the “Obama Failure Figure” well beyond the already intolerable ten percent that it is today.

Why not count the “unemployed” (not the liberal’s beloved “professional unemployed” of tax siphons, mendicants and moochers), the “invisible unemployed” and the “underemployed” (those who can only find part time work) and give us that number? Any bets that this shocking number might approach well over 40%? The “unemployed” are at 10%, the “underemployed” are at 17.3%, do you think that the “invisible unemployed” are at a mere 12.7%? If so then there is your 40% and my estimate may well be on the low side.. Add on the liberal’s “professional unemployed” and you can see just how large a burden the middle class is shouldering at the behest of the Red redistributionists..

Tax the middle class, “borrow” from beleaguered benefactors internationally and then just print up useless greenbacks to make up the difference.. (Please do not forget about “whiplash inflation” as well..) The liberals have no concept of how “interest rates” actually work. That is not surprising, none of the Obama administration can figure out a 1040 form, “compound interest” must really throw them for a loop.. The bottom line is that multiple generations of Americans from now will actually have a genuine claim for “reparations” from the Demokrats..

Using the Obama/Geithner “new math” we learn that, “the economy actually gained 4,000 jobs in November but the revisions showed it also lost 16,000 more jobs than previously estimated in October..” The news doesn’t get any better.. “The labor force has shrunk by 1.9 million people since May. Friday’s report caps a disastrous year for U.S. workers. The unemployment rate averaged 9.3 percent. Employers cut 4.2 million jobs in 2009.” (And that is BEFORE all of the jobs they will need to cut when the “health scare” scam passes..)

What is the answer from the liberals? More of the same useless, ineffective and cumbersome liberal government, or what Obama used to call the “status quo” that he used to find so intolerable.. Labor Secretary (The Obama administration’s equivalent to the Coroner..) Hilda Solis said, “companies are reluctant to ramp up hiring because they’re waiting to see what new stimulative steps the government might take to provide relief..” With twelve months of Obama’s “stimulative steps” already in the books, (before any of the liberal creative “revising”) the nation’s employers are cringing, not anticipating. Hey Hilda, here is a novel approach. The liberal government needs to take the “stimulative step” of getting off of the backs and out of the pockets of the nation’s employers..

It doesn’t end there.. “Congress is considering a ‘jobs bill’ that would spend $174 billion on unemployment benefits, roads and other infrastructure..” Here we again see the exact same idiotic claims that were made when the larcenous “stimulus” package was ramrodded down the nation’s throat and voted upon at Obama’s insistence without even a glance.. Where are all of those “shovel ready” jobs on the “roads and infrastructure” that were promised back then? They are just as imaginary as global warming..

Anthony Wippold, a 57 year old, just took a job after a year of being unemployed. There is ONE Obama job that he can claim. (Never mind that in the time that I have typed this article, Obama has destroyed six more jobs..) Hold on, Wippold’s “job is set to end in June and it includes no health insurance..” (Soon to be a felonious act by Wippold..) “I live like Gandhi” he said.. Unfortunately, the nation had better get used to “living like Gandhi” for about three more years..

  2. Wow! I just saw that they will be having the first National Tea Party Convention, February 4-6, 2010 at the Opryland Hotel Nashville, TN. Sarah Palin will be one of the speakers. I guess that it’s about a week before the CPAC event. For more information you can go to their website. http://www.teapartynation.com/

  3. If the False Prophet and his brainwashed zombies keep it up, they’ll be the only ones in the country with jobs. I wonder who they think is going to provide the taxes to pay them then.

    G’day All,

Larry, I was going to post this in the previous article, but things moved too quickly. Anyway …

On a lighter side: If you haven’t seen it already, have a squizz at the Ray Stevens video which says it all, the way it should be said. I seem to remember RS from way-back with his comedic tunes (Ahab the Arab, amongst others) along with his more serious stuff (the original version of Sunday Morning Coming Down, etc.).

An addition to the family! Cobber has a mate/buddy now, a 1 year old whippet named Proton (the Vet who gave the lad to us named him and of course is usually abbreviated to Pro). Cobber is no match for the ‘fast mover’ and is usually following up at the rear (usually after being lapped) in their races around the fence line. But, if the new boy stands still for an instant, the Brown Bomber is on to him and usually has to play dead to get a fight game going. A more affectionate and close companion you could not find and is pure elegance, whereas the Bomber is more of the Chicago strain. The F 22A Raptor V the MIG 25 Foxbat is a good comparison.

Still reading all posts and comments

A bit late, but I sincerely wish that all family members have a real beaut 2010.

  5. Arthur,

Great to hear from you again. I always worry when I don’t hear from the grizzled veterans for awhile..

Loved the video from Ray. Spot on. Thanks as well for the heads up on Hyscience. I’ve asked to be submitted to their “roll”, so we will see if they like the NLTZ ztyle..

    Thanks as always,

  7. Family,

I have been told that I HAVE to become involved in the MySpace/Facebook/Twitter business..

Fine. I signed up for Twitter as “noleftturnz”. Sent two “tweets”. I have no idea what I am doing..

  8. Don’t worry Larry, I don’t know how to do it either.

last week I tried to set up a NoLeftTurnz site on myspace. You have to create passwords and an ID AND I don’t want to do that. Thank goodness Stitch knows what he is doing.

Good news is there are 510 members on Facebook. I’ve advertise your site on other sites.

Off topic subject, but a friend sent me this article and the author wants to spread it across the Country. So, I’m doing my part and hope all of follow suit.

    545 vs. 300,000,000

Every Citizen Needs To Read This And Think About What This Journalist Has Scripted In This Message. Read It And Then Really Think About Our Current Political Debacle.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.
    545 PEOPLE

    By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it………. Is up to you.

This might be funny if it weren’t so darned true.

Be sure to read all the way to the end:

    Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
    Tax the table
    At which he’s fed.
    Tax his tractor,

    To tax his ass.
    Tax all he has
    Then let him know
    That you won’t be done
    Till he has no dough.
    When he screams and hollers;
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
    He’s good and sore.
    Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
    Tax the sod in
    Which he’s laid.
    Put these words

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

And I still have to ‘press 1’ for English!?

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!! YOU can help it get there!!!

GO AHEAD – – – BE AN AMERICAN!!!

  9. It would seem to me that more and more of the “Rope-A-Hope and Change” minions (their rope being made of Zig-Zag paper aren’t able to stuff the pipes because they’ve no green coming in. Whoa! Wait a minute here, Mr. Brown Clown. This isn’t what you promised us low-life wastes of space. You said “transparent government”, we applauded. You said, “more money”, we cheered. What? You didn’t promise any of those things? Oh, yes you did!!
    YOU LIE!!

  10. Margaret in CT

Hilda Solis says that business owners are “waiting to see what stimulative steps the government might take to provide relief… .” I think it is more accurate to replace “waiting” with “afraid,” perhaps even “terrified.” In fact, even she doesn’t seem to have a clue about the plans of the wunderkind in the White House.

Business owners are not going to add financial liability in the form of new employees until they know just how much those employees will cost them and whether they will be in danger of incarceration if they don’t pony up. I still find it amazing that the person who works hard, doesn’t overspend his or her income, and abides by the law is in danger of financial failure and imprisonment if these weasels get their way.

However the administration massages the statistics, individual voters who have not been working will remember in November 2010 that “stimulative” steps did not get them employed. Some of the rats in Congress are already scurrying off to “devote more time to their families.” We’ll be happy to give them all the time they want.

  11. Yes, Obama and minions want to destroy more jobs than create. Case in point, turing off the water suppy to thousands of acres of fertile land in California’s central valley. Buying up farmland and grazing land and now not letting fishermen in the great lakes from closing dams to keep carp out of fishing water in the great lakes. On and on one piece at a time they will destroy. Once again it is John Galt and Atlas Shrugged.

Smile of the day. On the local radio program last week the Nearly Famous Barry on KFYI in Phoenix was discussing the poll numbers of people calling themselves conservatives or liberals. He said only twenty-one per cent called theyselves liberal lefties. So Barry said those 21 percent are listening to Hip Hop so they don’t count. So true.

  12. Larry,
GREAT,GREAT article. I wanted to make a comment to let you know I’m still with you, but between your article and the comments, anything I could add would be redundant.

  13. Thanks, Larry. You never fail to inform and shine light into the corners of the crooks life in the “beltway”. And Eileen, what a great addition. I am going to forward it to all I can and will also fax it to many congress critters. Margaret, I also am happy to give them all the time they want, but would like to know how to get them off my dime? Even sending them to prison would keep them on our dime!

My son is in desparate need of more space for his business, but you can imagine how that is going trying to get a bank loan to purchase a building which has been sitting empty for two years plus. The process reminds me of screening at the airports with vinyl gloves on. At one time, he and I had credit cards which gave his business nearly seven hundred thousand dollars to work with. Since his business has grown, we have closed many of those cards. The cards we still carry have ALL made changes in their rates and fees, and not ONE of them has gone down. A couple of them have almost doubled fees. He would like to hire another helper, but…….

  14. There are no jobs… because there is no demand. There is no demand because there is no money to spend. Economics 101.
When the tsunami hits the States…and it is as we speak….agenda accomplished.

  15. Sling,

    “Redundant”? No such thing.

I value every conservative’s opinion here at NLTZ, you are no exception.

    Redundancy is necessary. Repeat, necessary.

Most people don’t get the message the first time through. Were that to be the case, the first article that I have written about Obama would have been the last. Everyone would take note, they would spring into action, the liberal crisis would be over..

That is NEVER the case. Repeating oneself gains converts with each submission. A comment that you might think is redundant might touch upon a point that I hadn’t even considered, making that comment incredibly important.

I demand that you be “redundant”. Reinforcing your message through repitition also strengthens it..

    Thanks as always my friend,

    Larry

  16. Would you risk your home, savings, credit, etc, to start a business to LOSE MONEY?
Would you risk your life savings to start a business that “breaks even”?
Considering we have a president ATTACKING companies for making a profit, would you risk everything you have to start a business that DOES make a profit…under THIS president??

The “light-skinned” president with “no negro dialect” attacks companies for making profits, then can’t figure out why unemployment is over 10% and skyrocketing!!

UNPROFITABLE companies DO NOT HIRE people!

    …idiots…

    STITCH!

  17. Eileen and NLTZ family,

Those 545 people want to keep it the way it is because the more they keep us off balance, the more they stay in power.

I’ve recently been reading more about the Council on Foreign Affairs, the Bilderberg Group, the Trilateral Commission and the UN. It’s interesting to see that a very few individuals seem to be pulling strings around the world, including our own United States. If anyone thinks that the government works for us, what I’ve been reading makes me think again. I’ve never been a conspiracy theorist, but as Glenn Beck says, sometimes there is enough evidence to show it’s not a conspiracy but is actually true. We need to wake up as a nation, and soon. The goals that were started in the 1920’s, ’30’s and so on are all coming to fruition. I think we are actually quite fortunate that Obamalama-ding-dong is trying to make change happen so quickly. It might wake up/shake up the masses and make them realize we’ve been on a quiet path slowly and surely toward socialism. And from there, it’s a quick jump to one world government.

Send money to Scott Brown’s Massachusettes senatorial campaign (via the Tea Party Express website). His win is our only hope of not passing the health care nightmare they are crafting behind closed doors.

Great article, Larry. I’m always happy to see the notice of a new one in my in-box. Congrats on the twitter tweets. I’ll be looking for you on facebook, where I am already a fan!

  18. I’m with Docta G….contribute to Scott Brown’s campaign….put your money where your mouth is.

  19. do it!

help Scott Brown beat the Socialists and take “Dead Ted’s” seat!

    Stitch!

  20. Obambi’s friend, the Cuban foreign minister stated “He lies all the time, he’s a demonic deceiver” well said by a commie pal…they seem to know better than we do!
    Buy Gold and Buy Lead…..

  21. Sign a new petition to President Obama: Come Clean on “Buy an Economist” Scandal; where you can send a response in addition to signing your name. http://action.firedoglake.com/page/s/gruber

On the memo posted above, it’s not 545 but 546, they forgot to include the Vice President, who can vote to break a tie in Congress. The writer of the article noted that after the fact.

  22. Monica,

If they are listening to hip slop, it’s not that they “don’t count”, they CAN’T count..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  23. Some very interesting news today. First, and most important, Sarah Palin has signed a deal with Fox News. No details available on the Contract other than she starts immediately.

Second news and where I learned this information from, Tucker Carlson launched a new Conservative website called The Daily Caller. You can access it here. http://dailycaller.com/

Since you can access his site there is more to the story on an Obama and MIT economist and federal contractor Jonathan Gruber. Click on the link regarding Brownstein article the Atlantic article. Interesting to say the least. I guess it’s all a coincident, huh?

If there was no conflict of then why did they hide all the information from the public? I guess Robert Gibbs will be doing another tap routine or a soft shoe number tomorrow at the daily White House briefing. Bring the popcorn it might be more entertaining then the crap Hollywood’s been making.

    As Our Stomach Turnz.

  24. A Friend from another conservative site forwarded this to me. I thought it was important.

WW II Battleship sailor Harold Estes tells Obama to shape up or ship out!

This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now.

He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.

    Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos’n Mate. Now I live in a “rest home” located on the western end of Pearl Harbor, allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country. One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my mind, blunt and direct even to the head man. So here goes.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish. I can’t figure out what country you are the president of. You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:

“We’re no longer a Christian nation”

“America is arrogant” – (Your wife even announced to the world,” America is mean-spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching that nonsense to 23 generations of our war dead buried all over the globe who died for no other reason than to free a whole lot of strangers from tyranny and hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you. To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.” Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British? Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War? I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination. You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man. Shape up and start acting like an American. If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue . You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight? You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing. I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out. The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president. You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy. That’s not our greatest threat. Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now. And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

    Sincerely,
    Harold B. Estes

When a 95 year old hero of the “the Greatest Generation” stands up and speaks out like this, I think we owe it to him to send his words to as many Americans as we can. Please pass it on.

    On a personal note…
We all know that the president doesn’t get to read much of his mail, but someone up there has the responsibility to read and categorize every piece of correspondence to track the temperament of the country.

We can be brave in what we say, just like Mr. Estes did, as long as we are professional and NON THREATENING about it. Give it a try. After all, 2010 is here, and in ten months we have the power to end the stranglehold the president has over us by changing the congress and the senate as much as possible. Stay with the fight.

As long as we don’t give up we can and will win!
    Matthew J. Pesce

    Just an excellent letter.

  25. Another great one Larry!

Now onto something off topic, but I feel it’s important to get out there. Some of you may already know about this. On World Net Daily yesterday, there was an article regarding 2010 calendars. It seems that some of them have removed Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and replaced it with “Islamic new year”. We bought a calendar from Wal-Mart for our daughter for Christmas and I went home and checked it and sure enough, it’s true. We plan to take this back to Wal-Mart and let them know why. You should all check your calendars. One of my co-workers said his were okay, so apparently there are still some out there that don’t include this. Just an FYI for everyone.

Arthur, glad to hear you are doing well and that Cobber has a new mate. Take care!

  26. Thanks for the heads-up TFinchman. I checked the desk calendar for 2010 purchased from Office Max and it appears ALL are being identified. Something called “First of Muharram” I assume is what you are referring to….since it’s not even translated into english.
WHEN…pray tell, did we begin this crap? Let me guess….since the Muslim “usurped” his way into the WH.
I’m taking it back and looking for one that observes Judeo/Christian days of remembrance.
    Thanks again.

  27. You’re welcome, Rayne.

  28. Family,

Just when you thought that Al “The Wave” $harpton was too quiet..

    He’s back..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry & Crew,

Again, ‘Off Topic’ – ‘Please forgive!

Here is something to take the mind off all the criminal events that are being perpetrated in ‘The U.S.’ in the name of ‘World Governance’. I wish someone had bought me a boxed lunch on the times that I was being deployed. A simple thought that means the world to our fighting men as they take time-out from ‘civie life’ and go and do the hard yakka. Wish I was young enough – I’d sign up on the spot. I think the time will soon be with us when we will all be called to ‘sign up’ and give what is needed, not just for country, but for everything that we hold dear, the most important of which will be our Christian Religion, which is under siege and barely a murmur escapes our lips.

    Airline Lunches:

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat.

It was going to be a long flight from Perth** (Western Australia) to Melbourne (Victoria) about 3438 kms. and 4127 kms to Sydney.

‘I’m glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short sleep,’ I thought.

Just before take-off, a line of diggers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me.

I decided to start a conversation.

‘Where are you blokes headed?’ I asked the digger seated nearest to me.

‘Puckapunyal*. We’ll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we’re being deployed to Afghanistan.

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that lunches were available for five dollars.

It would be several hours before we reached Melbourne, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time..

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a soldier ask his mate if
    he planned to buy lunch.

‘No, that seems like a lot of money for just an airline lunch. Probably wouldn’t be worth five bucks’. I’ll wait till we get to Pucka. His mate agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch.
I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a
    fifty dollar note.

‘Please, take a lunch to all those soldiers.”

She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. “My young bloke was a digger in Iraq, it’s almost like you are doing it for him.”

Picking up ten lunch boxes, she headed up the aisle to where the
digs were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, “Which do you like best – beef or chicken?” “Chicken,” I replied, wondering why she asked.

She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class.

    “This is your thanks.”

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room. An old bloke stopped me. “I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this.” He handed me twenty-five dollars..

Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked, I hoped he wasn’t looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane..

When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand, and said, “I want to shake your hand.” Quickly unfastening my seat-belt I stood and took the Captain’s hand.

With a booming voice he said, “I was an army pilot a long time back. Once someone bought me lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.”

I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.

Later, I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs.

A kid who looked about 18 was sitting about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to depart. Waiting just inside the aeroplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to up to Puckapunyal. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars.

“It will take you some time to reach Pucka. It will be about time for a sandwich. God Bless You Blokes.”

Ten young blokes left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow Aussies.

As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were
giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little….

A digger is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank
cheque made payable to ‘AUSTRALIA’ for an amount of
‘up to and including my life’.

That is Honour, and there are way too many foreigners in this country who don’t understand it’.

    ####
*(Puckapunyal is North of Melbourne and is the OZ Army Armoured Centre, plus other specialties). It is usually referred to to it’s sound-alike ‘F***-A-Spaniel’ by all diggers who have been there and like Chicago, it is one big orifice.

**Coming from Perth, it is odds on that the diggers were from the SAS Regiment.

  30. Arthur, thank you!
What a wonderful moment in your life and for those whom you touched. A true and perfect example of “paying it forward.”
I truly appreciate the moment you gave me to forget all the bad stuff happening, while absorbing your account.
    Heart-warming comes to mind.

  31. Arthur,

Welcome back. What a great story, and knowing just a little about you, it was not surprising as to what you did and why you did it.

God bless, and best wishes for the new year.

  32. Larry,

I don’t know if you planned it this way, but you have assembled a great “family” here. Individuals with intelligent and sincere postings, experiences, humour, patriotism, conservatism, etc. Congrats to you and the faithful.

Since this group is so good, and so in tune with each other, I wonder if anyone has given any thought to having a “family reunion” , a real live get together to get to know everyone “in person” . Just a thought – far fetched, perhaps.

  33. Arthur,

What a moving story. You made me cry (in a good way). It just shows you what one person can do. All it takes is one person to motivate the others.

I worked for a company in NJ, one of our employees, home burnt down and he lost everything. He also was a single father raising two very young girls. The gossip spread very quickly around the building. A friend and I asked one of his co-workers how he was doing, if he needed anything, did he have someplace to stay, etc. We asked how old his children were, they were 3 and 4. Everyone got out safely and he was grateful for that. I did a little digging and made the decision to help him and his girls. We found out the sizing his daughters wore .

I told my boss I might be a little late coming back from lunch. My friend and ran off to Walmart to buy them some clothes for all of them and a few inexpensive toys to play with.
Jerilee spent about $150.00 and I spent close to $300.00.

When we got back, we went directly upstairs to leave the things we got at his desk. And returned back to our department downstairs. My boss walked over to me and Jerilee and said, that was a wonderful thing you both just did.

We were shunned that she knew what we had done. She said the Vice President had just called her to thank her for having two employees to that were so generous to someone they really didn’t know personally. And said generosity begins at home.

Soon after an email went out to everyone in our building, as he reminded everyone that one of our own was in trouble. But, I was just reminded by two women, what we all could do to relieve some of his stress. He asked that we all come out to help, give money, toys, clothes for him and clothes for them.

The Vice President came downstairs and handed us both a $250.00 an American Express money order for showing what caring for someone else and thinking about them instead of ourselves.

The next day her returned to work. He came downstairs and thank us. He was puzzled why would you both be so generous to me and my daughters. I don’t understand that, you don’t know me. My answer was it was the best thing we could do, helping another who was in trouble. He hugged and thanked us. We were told that when he returned his cubicle was filled with clothes for them, toys for his daughters (someone brought to bikes). It felt great to have started the process and move it forward.

  34. Arthur Nankervis

    Crikey!

    Rayne, JJ and Eileen,

Thanks for the “UNDESERVED” kind comments. I have made a classic blunder and failed to mention that the main contents of the story came via email from my mate in OZ. I should have indicated this in my comment at the arse end. I doubt if I could be had up for ‘plagiarism’, but it would have been nice to quote the original source/s, but none were given.

My apologies to Larry and the family for that oversight. If it were me on that flight, I would have ordered whiskies for the lads – cut lunches has (or at least it did in my day) a mildly derogative connotation to it in referring to ‘Cut Lunch Commandos’, or the Australian CMF (Citizens Military Force). Part-time soldiers who are now more and more, lining up with the regular soldiers and being deployed overseas. So, it seems that even Cut Lunch Commandos doesn’t fit any more.

Once again, sorry for the ‘mislead’ on this one.

    Arthur

  35. Arthur,

It doesn’t matter to me who did this kind act, it’s not about the person, it’s about the act itself.

Too many people are too cynical now a days. And the cynicalist (is that a word?) are generally the last people to come forward to help. I’m sure we’ve all seen it, and I think it’s gotten worse with Obama. People here are impatient, rude, obnoxious, selfish and uncaring. It boost my heart to know that caring for one another hasn’t died. There are normal everyday people who’ll come forward to help another person.

  36. Arthur…I think you would have done it too. I would have probably bought the whiskey also.

  37. JJ….I think a reunion is a fantabulous idea!

  38. Family, my husband has done the “buy a meal or a brew” and had it done for him a number of times when he was still in uniform. His unit had a very warm welcome when they came home via a commercial airline from Iraq, in 2003. It is not that uncommon, but most folks just don’t want to blow their own horn. And for sure the progressive left wouldn’t want us to know about it!

  39. Arthur Nankervis

    Larry & Family,

    No dramas with this one.

Interesting to try to keep up with the names and what made them famous/infamous.

  40. While on the campaign trail for Martha Coakley, Obama ran into some resistance from the crowd. This made me laugh out loud. Watching the noose around both Coakley and Obama. It’s the Desperate hour.

  41. Damn, it didn’t take again. One more try.

  42. Here is a better and longer copy of the same event.

  43. Here is a interesting story from Taxachusetts currency from the 9/12 Project.

After Obama Rally, Dems Pin Blame On Bush
    January 17, 2010 6:16 PM
    By Felicia Sonmez

As audience members streamed out of Pres. Obama’s rally on behalf of AG Martha Coakley (D) here tonight, the consensus was that the fault for Coakley’s now-floundering MA SEN bid lies with one person — George W. Bush.

“People are upset because there’s so many problems,” Rosemary Kverek, 70, a retired Charleston schoolteacher said as tonight’s rally wrapped up. “But the problems came from the previous administration. So we’re blaming poor Obama, who’s working 36 hours a day … to solve these problems that he inherited.”

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), speaking with a gaggle of reporters after the event, said that while state Sen. Scott Brown (R) offers voters a quick fix, in reality, the problems created by “George Bush and his cronies” are not so easily solved.

“If you think there’s magic out there and things can be turned around overnight, then you would vote for someone who could promise you that, like Scott Brown,” Kennedy said. “If you don’t, if you know that it takes eight years for George Bush and his cronies to put our country into this hole … then you know we have a lot of digging to do, but some work needs to be done and this president’s in the process of doing it and we need to get Marcia Coakley to help him to do that.”

(Curiously, Kennedy mentioned Coakley repeatedly during his remarks to reporters, each time referring to her as “Marcia,” not “Martha.”)

More Kennedy: “One thing the Democrats have done wrong? We haven’t kept the focus on this disaster on the Republicans who brought it upon us. We’ve tried too hard to do that right thing, and that’s to fix it, as opposed to spend more of our time and energy pointing the finger at who got us [here] in the first place.”

Blaming their problems on Bush does carry a risk for Dems, however — with their sights so firmly focused on the past, Brown’s campaign has managed to wrest the “change” mantle from them.

Meanwhile, even as Kennedy took on both Bush and Brown head-on, some attendees were more muted in their criticism of Brown.

“I mean, he is handsome,” Christine DiPitro, 61, of Malden, said of Brown.

“He does appeal to the regular guy with his truck, but that’s about all.”

Their arrogance is just stunning; the regular guy? Isn’t that who ALL of our representatives are supposed to appeal to? Isn’t that who they’re supposed to represent? You and I?

  44. A new article I found at Washington Times:

All 100 members of Senate will get their own sanctuary

    By Laurie Kellman ASSOCIATED PRESS

Shhhhhhh. The perks of Senate membership just got sweeter.

For the first time, all 100 members of the chamber will have their own cloistered hideaways in the U.S. Capitol, traditionally a coveted mark of seniority and clout that lowly freshmen could only dream about.

This year, even junior senators will get their own private, unmarked offices that are a convenient few steps from the Senate chamber.

The addition of a dozen or so newly renovated rooms in the bowels of the Capitol represents a cultural shift in the custom-bound institution, made possible by moving a Capitol Police facility from the building’s basement into the new, $621 million Capitol Visitor Center. The vacated space inside the Capitol’s West Front made room for even shunned members of the Senate — Roland W. Burris, Illinois Democrat, for example — and freshmen minority Republicans to move in.

While both parties make claims and counterclaims about openness in government, some things never change. The first rule of Senate hideaways: Only senators talk about them. And then, selectively and only about their own.

The only ways to know who occupies which office are to be invited in, witness a senator entering or exiting, or see a home-state newspaper lying outside the door in the morning. The hush-hush tradition creates sanctuaries for legislative work and meetings, as well as less official business — maybe even a nap.

Hideaways occupy ancient nooks on all four floors of the historic building and are institutions within an institution and one of the last vestiges of nonpartisanship in an increasingly divided chamber. The most senior senators get first dibs on the best quarters, regardless of party.

They bear room numbers but no names. Some are hidden in plain sight, along corridors used by thousands of unknowing tourists. The portals to others hide beyond massive statues. Still others are crammed in the spaces around rotundas, or at the ends of hallways with multiple sets of stairs. Many can’t be found without a guide.

Those occupied by such senior senators as Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia Democrat, and Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, tend to be grand affairs, with bathrooms, fireplaces, chandeliers and million-dollar views of the Washington and Lincoln memorials or the Supreme Court.

The newly renovated basement hideaways feature no such frills. These offices and some of their blueprints, examined by the Associated Press over the past year, reveal rooms that tend to be around 300 square feet, with low ceilings, no windows or bathrooms, and furnished with stock Senate tables and chairs. One such space, to be occupied by second-term Sen. Thomas R. Carper, Delaware Democrat, is cramped with a desk, sofa and small conference table.

The last two basement hideaways to be renovated have just received a soft yellow coat of paint. A few doors down, a couch sits still covered in plastic, awaiting its new occupant.

No one will talk about how much the taxpayers are spending to create the new offices. The famously discreet Senate Rules Committee, which distributes hideaways and handles all related matters, refused comment. A spokeswoman for the Architect of the Capitol’s office, which performs the renovations, referred a reporter to the Rules Committee.

Committee Chairman Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, one of the most camera-friendly members of the Senate, declined an interview request on the subject. Ranking Republican Robert F. Bennett of Utah did not respond to a similar request. Two requests for comment from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, who by tradition would be aware of the changes, went unanswered by his usually responsive press office.

    And so on.

“There’s nothing inherently wrong with having hideaways. It’s a long-standing tradition,” said Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a private watchdog group.

It might even be more fair for every senator to have one, rather than just the longest-serving members, she added. But refusing to talk about how much is being spent on them, when it probably would have been spent anyway to repurpose the space, is “secrecy for its own sake,” she said. “They make it seem worse than it probably is.”

  45. I read this weekend that Rush Limbaugh has back out of the CPAC and has been replaced by Glenn Beck, who’s the keynote Speaker. I don’t know if that’s good news or bad news. I also believe they are trying to get Sarah Palin, I don’t know if that’s true or not.

There are a few names that I’d like to see Hon. John Ashcroft*, Glenn Beck*, Amb. John Bolton*, Sen. John Barrasso, Andrew Breitbart*, Herman Cain*, Tucker Carlson*, Liz Cheney*, Sen. Tom Coburn, Ann Coulter*, Sen. Jim DeMint, Hon. Newt Gingrich*, Doug Hoffman*, David Keene*, Wayne LaPierre*, Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell, Rep. Ron Paul*, Gov. Tim Pawlenty*, Rep. Mike Pence*, Hon. Mitt Romney*, Hon. Marco Rubio*, Hon. Rick Santorum.*

Liz Cheney created one of the best TV ads I’ve ever seen and hope she shows it. Would love to meet Ann Coulter, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Mike Pence, Jim DeMint, Ron Paul and Amb. John Bolton.

What a great opportunity for Larry and No Left Turnz.
