It’s a Gamble..

A little story over at Breitbart (“Obama to offer own debt reduction package” 0918/2011) said that OWEbama is “preparing his opening bid on long-term debt reduction.. This may sound like an auction, but since it is OWEbama, it’s a gamble..

The usual suspects were all out and about beating the bushes and trying their best to deflect and distort.. “Administration officials see the task of attending to deficits as necessary but not necessarily urgent compared with the need to revive the economy and increase employment..”

Let’s try not to forget for just a moment that OWEbama “OJ’ed” both the economy and the idea of employment here in America.. Let’s try to, but I know that it won’t be easy.. For someone from the “administration” to say that the OWEBAMA deficit is “not necessarily urgent” is the equivalent of an Engine House during the Chicago Fire racing off to Peoria to put out a barbecue pit.. I love how the liberals like to act as though they don’t understand the economic “Democratic Dominoes” that they have been toppling and how they effect EVERYTHING that they come in contact with when they fall..

“The White House also sees this as the time to draw sharp contrasts with Republicans..” Even the mildly observant can draw “sharp contrasts” between the fellow travelers and the Republicans. “Sharp contrasts” within the liberal lexicon means “It’s election time and it’s time to separate people while calling ourselves ‘unifiers’”..

Here is the last part of the quote from the last paragraph, “whose public approval ratings are lower than Obama’s..” Maybe when these “approval ratings” are taken from places other than homeless shelters, Methadone clinics and bus stops, the numbers might be a bit less skewed to the Dark Side..

Now is the time for fiction to meet fact. “When Obama announces at least $2 trillion in deficit reduction measures Monday”, he WON’T mention the nearly $2 trillion in tax increases that will be along for the ride.. These foggy and mysterious “deficit reduction” measures will be written in “Jethro Bodine Double Naught Spy” invisible ink and the tax increases will be carved into socialist stone..

“I would view this as the president’s vision for how we achieve deficit reduction..” So says White House socialists shill Dan Pfeiffer.. I would match the “president’s vision” up against Stevie Wonder’s any day of the week.. I’ll bet that Stevie can balance HIS checkbook.. The “president’s vision” CREATED the deficits that others are left to deal with. Tough guy Hussein was just content to “kick the can down the road” just a short time ago and the result was the “historic” OWEBAMA downgrade..

Out come the policy wonk words of wisdom, “the plan represents an economic bookend to the $447 billion in tax cuts and new public spending, a short term measure to stimulate the economy and create jobs..” Again there is NO PROOF of ANY “tax cuts” and when the liberals start talking about “short term” this means, “up until the first Wednesday in November..” The liberals need to start thinking about as far down the road as they “kicked the can”, not just until 2012 election..

Here is where the liberal’s favorite Zyklon B is administered. “A minimum tax rate for taxpayers earning more than $1 million..” Once the door of taxation is forced opened by the liberals, they insist upon trampling everyone even though their “intent” was to “tax the rich”. Funny things seem to ALWAYS happen to the “numbers” once the liberals achieve such a cancerous concession.

As the left calls it a “tax on the wealthy”, the right sees it properly as a tax on the middle class (as well as the OBVIOUS tax upon those who PRODUCE jobs..) and balks. “Republicans have pledged to oppose any increase in taxes..” This is where the “class separation” progressive ploy gets its introduction and it ambles in from stage left to a rousing round of applause from the knuckle draggers of the leftist voting base.. “Taxing” the job producers is MORE IMPORTANT to OWEbama than “creating jobs”, period.

“Democrats are waiting to see what Obama proposes to do with Medicare, the government health care program for older people..” I am more concerned with what OWEbama “proposes to do” with Medicaid, as EVERY “beneficiary” of THIS program votes Democratic.. As well, what would the Democrats do? Invincibility enshrouds OWEbama as even the head of the “Black Caucus” said, “If Obama wasn’t the president, we would be marching on the White House”. (The Hill dot com) Democratic double standards, you could knock me over with a feather..

Former (points for sensibly abandoning the liberal listing ship..) OWEbama Economic Adviser (she did such a great job “advising” about the economy, she should have actually been hung..) Christina Romer said, “potentially raising the retirement age for Medicare is something that deserves a lot of consideration..” Why? “Such an increase in the eligibility age is more conceivable with Obama’s health care law because guaranteed private health insurance would be available to middle class early retirees starting in 2014..” Mandatory meetings with “Death Counselors” will apply as well.. The truth? “Two thirds of 65 and 66 year olds would pay MORE for their new coverage than they would have under Medicare..” OWEbamanomics for Dummies..

“Overall, the president’s proposal could help reduce long-term deficits by about $4 trillion..” This coming from the same Democratic dolts who were surprised by the “economies soft patch”.. Please note the key word.. “Could”, not “WOULD”.. OWEbama takes two years creating “historic” deficits, now he wants to be “loved” as a hero vainly (how else does OWEbama do things?) trying to fix what HE broke.. (“If you love me-if you love me, you got to help me pass this bill..”)

Former Clinton adviser William Galston said that OWEbama “has generated a problem for himself by giving the appearance of not being forthcoming enough with regard to his own fiscal plan..” OWEbama “generated a problem for himself” by spending like a typical undermedicated liberal, he has “not been forthcoming” about ANYTHING so that isn’t a surprise to anyone.. OWEbama gave up the “appearance” of being “forthcoming” the moment that he declared his candidacy for the presidency..

“The White House considers passing the jobs bill far more pressing and Obama has been looking for every opportunity to bring it to the public’s attention..” No kidding.. They will try anything to deflect attention away from the logic that if it weren’t for OWEbama and his economic idiocy, there might not need to be the necessity for a “jobs bill” in the first place..

The Dems say don’t cut this, the Repubs say don’t tax that, OWEbama says nothing and he is the hero.. He has set BOTH sides up to bicker, while he is “above the fray”.. He is the “Maverick”.. (How well did that end up working for McCain?) This is ALL about OWEbama getting re-elected. He is striking out on his own..

FINALLY. He’s been “striking out” since January of 2009, and today all that matters is that the “Teflon Totalitarian” manages to keep the blame for HIS messes from somehow “sticking” to him.. He simply doesn’t care who ends up stained with the residue of his recklessness, Republican or Democrat..

  1. I cannot believe all they are trying to do, and getting away with it. Where is the House of Representatives, whose job it is to file impeachment. If these stupid Representatives don’t get it done, they will be done. Even the new guys and gals we voted into office in 2010 can be replaced if they have been sucking on their thumb all this time, just waiting for what I know not. If the House doesn’t act, we can replace them again. No longer are we going to tolerate Congress and Senate ignoring what is going on. We need to start impeachment proceedings this week or even three or four months ago.

Never Give Up, Never Give In and Never ever again! One and Done!

  2. Richard,

We didn’t elect Republicans, we elected politicians. Carrying a brightly lit torch fueled by popular disdain of the liberal’s joke of democracy high above their heads, they railed against the agendas Obama and his socialist screwballs had busied themselves with shoving down the throats of the American people.

As I said, we’ve elected politicians, for now these torch carriers are extending and reauthorizing the very same policies they were so illuminated against in getting elected.

I couldn’t agree more with your suggestion of “replacement.” It appears to me that all politicians are slow learners due to having built themselves comfotable nests, not listening and only working when election time rolls around. Career government is one of major problems, get government out of govenment.

  3. Found this in my in Box this morning & after reading Larry’s word smithing & Joe’s & Richard’s comments I thought it appropriate to pass it on.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It’s a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!

    545 vs. 300,000,000 People
    -By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan …

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you.
This might be funny if it weren’t so true.

    Till he has no dough.

    When he screams and hollers;
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
    He’s good and sore.

    Then tax his coffin,

    Tax the sod in
    Which he’s laid…

    Put these words
    Upon his tomb,
    ‘Taxes drove me

    STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom, if agreed, stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the heck happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 545 times!!! YOU can help it get there!!!

GO AHEAD. . . BE AN AMERICAN!!!

  4. Kurt, I just sent this to 26 people including a state senator, a state rep, and a US senator. Larry I hope it catches a reader or two as I sent the entire article.

  5. Kurt,

I have the 545 saved in a file and send it out about every 4 months or so to all my contacts. Whether they delete it or send it on, I don’t know but I know that I’m reminding someone. Never letting them forget who in the hell it is that’s screwing up our government.
Like Graywolf, I have shared the piece with all three of my so-called “representatives” in Congress. I recieved no reply from them. I think I will now throw the “Tax his” at them. Who knows, one of them might even read it!

  6. Richard,

I would hope that the “message” that was sent by the Tea Party would have gotten through..

Lets hope that if it hasn’t that the next crew calling themselves Tea Partiers will get it..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  7. Joe,

I have always said that the ONLY thing that “matters” is not the difference between the “D” and the “R” but the difference between the “L” and the “C”..

Those ensconced within the comforts of DC will never learn until they are taught the lesson. Daschle, Spectre and others found out the hard way.

It’s time for OWEbama, Pelosi and Reid to get the lesson..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  8. Kurt,

I have a letter written to me from Charlie many years ago when I first started writing, just some basic advice. Written by hand, a good man and a good conservative.

His advice that you reposted is spot on..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  9. Graywolf,

I appreciate it, it would be kind of nice to see something that I composed being passed all over the nation..

    Maybe someday..

    Thanks as always,

    Larry

  10. beyond disgusted

Larry, outstanding & spot on as usual!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Kurt, I read this article quite awhile back & agree completely. However, there is a more basic truth that involves the voters of this nation. A Czech newspaper refered to a “depraved electorate” resulting in the election of Owebama. That same electorate elects Congress. I have not given up on the recently elected Tea Party members, but the rest of them are a problem; and that includes the current Republican leadership.

    Everybody is doing it!
Remove this ad The real danger is not Obama, Czech newspaper writes

This quote was translated into English from an article appearing in the Czech Republic as published in the Prager Zeitungon April 28.
    >
    > “The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.
    > “The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the confederacy of fools that made him their prince. “The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.”

  11. You’re right on the money, Joe. We have to stop electing polititions and start electing business men and give them four years and kick ’em out. No more lawyers, either. The stories I could tell!

  12. A few years ago, the slogan was ” It’s the economy, stupid “. My pet phrase has been ” It’s the stupid voters “. Apparently the Prager Zeitungon agrees !

  13. Anyone up for the latest from NLTZ:

  14. Richard,

Term limits is something I’ve thought hard and long about and as things have become progressively worse politically, it has my full backing. Your stipulations on the requirements of “new hires” make it all that more appealling. I would go you one further, however, in saying that the absolution of the Federal Government would be beneficial for our nation. Most would call this impossible and laugh in your face, at least they do mine, but it is possible. To push government back to it’s intended role as the framers of our Constitution intended. So many people do not realize the freedoms the don’t have because of the “blessings” of having so much government taking care of them.

    Kurt,

You did forget one teensy little tax, well, maybe, sorta, kinda a tax. It depends on if your looking through liberal eyes or not I guess.

In the three ton, excuse me, three thousand page Obamacare Bill, Page 203/Line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax.
Now is it just me in the only one thinking how anyone in their right mind could have written something like that?! Shouldn’t we heed Larry’s earlier warning of these idiots being eligible for white coats with extra-long wrap around sleeves? Then why all that’s good, shouldn’t we follow through by carting them off to happy farms where they can color that which is not treated to be colored or weave that which is not treated to be weaved.

  15. Great idea Larry. We could turn the swamp into an historical site like Pennsylvania did the the liberty bell and all. 🙂 Thought this excellent:

USA: The new Detroit… Meet Jerome Cavanagh… A Model City… Casey on the War on Poverty… An area the size of Boston, vacant… More BSX bashing… Should you sell?…

One of the most important things to remember about socialism – or coercion of any kind – is it fails eventually because human beings have an innate desire for liberty and a strong need for personal property rights. In fact, the origins of government lie in the need of agricultural communities to protect themselves from violence and theft. So it is particularly ironic that in more recent times, it is government itself that has more frequently played the role of bandit. When you start taxing people at extreme rates to pay for socialist “benefits,” when you start telling them which schools their children must attend, when you start giving jobs away to people based on race instead of ability… you quash human freedom, which bogs down productivity… and if continued for long enough, leads to social collapse.

I find it perplexing that only 20 years after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the West continues to implement laws that mimic all of the failed policies of our former “communist” foes. In fact, our current president won the election by promising to “spread the wealth around”. But… truth be told… we don’t have to look to Eastern Europe or the Soviet Union to find a society destroyed by coercion, socialism, and the overreaching power of the State. We could just look at Detroit…

In 1961, the last Republican mayor of Detroit lost his re-election bid to a young, intelligent Democrat, with the overwhelming support of newly organized black voters. His name was Jerome Cavanagh. The incumbent was widely considered to be corrupt (and later served 10 years in prison for tax evasion). Cavanagh, a white man, pandered to poor underclass black voters. He marched with Martin Luther King down the streets of Detroit in 1963. (Of course, marching with King was the right thing to do… It’s just Cavanagh’s motives were political not moral.) He instated aggressive affirmative action policies at City Hall. And most critically, he greatly expanded the role of the government in Detroit, taking advantage of President Lyndon Johnson’s “Model Cities Program” – the first great experiment in centralized urban planning.

Mayor Cavanagh was the only elected official to serve on Johnson’s task force. And Detroit received widespread acclaim for its leadership in the program, which attempted to turn a nine-square-mile section of the city (with 134,000 inhabitants) into a “model city”. More than $400 million was spent trying to turn inner cities into shining new monuments to government planning. In short, the feds and Democratic city mayors were soon telling people where to live, what to build, and what businesses to open or close. In return, the people received cash, training, education, and health care.

The Model Cities program was a disaster for Detroit. But it did accomplish its real goal: The creation of a state-supported, Democratic political power base. The program also resulted in much higher taxes – which were easy to pitch to poor voters who didn’t have to pay them. Cavanagh pushed a new income tax through the state legislature and a “commuter tax” on city workers.

Unfortunately, as with all socialist programs, lots of folks simply don’t like being told what to do. Lots of folks don’t like being plundered by the government. They don’t like losing their jobs because of their race.

In Detroit, they didn’t like paying new, large taxes to fund a largely black and Democratic political hegemony. And so, in 1966, more than 22,000 middle- and upper-class residents moved out of the city.

But what about the poor? As my friend Doug Casey likes to say, in the War on Poverty, the poor lost the most. In July 1967, police attempted to break up a late-night party in the middle of the new “Model City”. The scene turned into the worst race riot of the 1960s. The violence killed more than 40 people and left more than 5,000 people homeless. One of the first stores to be looted was the black-owned pharmacy. The largest black-owned clothing store in the city was also burned to the ground. Cavanagh did nothing to stop the riots, fearing a large police presence would make matters worse. Five days later, Johnson sent in two divisions of paratroopers to put down the insurrection. Over the next 18 months, an additional 140,000 upper- and middle-class residents – almost all of them white – left the city.

And so, you might rightfully ask… after five years of centralized planning, higher taxes, and a fleeing population, what did the government decide to do with its grand experiment, its “Model City”? You’ll never guess….

Seeing it had accomplished nothing but failure, the government endeavored to do still more. The Model City program was expanded and enlarged by 1974’s Community Development Block Grant Program. Here again, politicians would decide which groups (and even individuals) would receive state funds for various “renewal” schemes. Later, Big Business was brought into the fold. In exchange for various concessions, the Big Three automakers “gave” $488 million to the city for use in still more redevelopment schemes in the mid-1990s.

What happened? Even with all of their power and all of the money, centralized planners couldn’t succeed with any of their plans. Nearly all of the upper and middle class left Detroit. The poor fled, too. The Model City area lost 63% of its population and 45% of its housing units from the inception of the program through 1990.

Even today, the crisis continues. At a recent auction of nearly 9,000 seized homes and lots, less than one-fifth of the available properties sold, even with bidding starting at $500. You literally can’t give away most of the “Model City” areas today. The properties put up for sale last week represented an area the size of New York’s Central Park. Total vacant land in Detroit now occupies an area the size of Boston – Detroit properties in foreclosure have more than tripled since 2007.

Every single mayor of Detroit since 1961 has been a Democrat. Every single mayor of Detroit since 1974 has been black. Detroit has been a major recipient of every major social program since the early 1960s and has received hundreds of billions of dollars in government grants, loans, and programs. We now have a black, Democrat president, who is promising to do to America as a whole what his political mentors have done to Detroit.

Those of you with a Democratic political affiliation may think what I’ve written above is biased or false. You may think what you like. But there is no way to argue that what the government has done to Detroit is anything but a horrendous crime. You may think what I’ve written above is merely a political analysis. Perhaps so, but politicians drive macroeconomic policy. And macroeconomic policy determines key financial metrics, like the trade-weighted value of a currency and key interest rates.

The likelihood America will become a giant Detroit is growing – rapidly. Politicians now control the banking sector, most of the manufacturing sector (including autos), a large amount of media, and are threatening to take over health care and the production of electricity (via cap and trade rules). These are the biggest threats to wealth in the history of our country. And these threats are causing the world’s most accomplished and wealthy investors to actively short sell the United States – something that is unprecedented in my experience.
